The Parasite of Fresh vs The Curse of Dance
"An undiscovered universe of animal behavior will yet be traced to parasites."
(Kathleen McAuliffe)
Before We Start…
Given their ties to fan media, these two have a surprising amount of stuff to cover.
For Fresh, we’ll be tackling the original ask Error, Genos comic, and Freshmaggedon, as for a note Freshmaggedon IS lost media, meaning we just have to go off what we have, we can also do CrayonQueens ama, the April fools comic and anything she's said about anything else UT related
For Samsonite, we’ll obviously focus on all 3 seasons of Uncle Samsonite on YouTube that are out at the time. We’ll also include deleted videos like the two original Uncle Samsonite videos, and miscellaneous videos like Uncle Samsonite Haunts Adobe After Effects. For the more interesting stuff, the creator of Uncle Samsonite, Jake Bowen, has acknowledged the Roblox game, Pillar Chase 2, and not only does he consider Samsonite’s moveset in said game to be canon-accurate, but he’s even open to the idea of the game itself being canon to Uncle Samsonite, so we’ll include abilities, feats, and scaling from the game, which will be important later (specifications on how he scales in the game can be found in Scaling).
Background
Fresh Sans
“WASSUP BRAH”
(Fresh Sans art by Mararia0w0 on DeviantArt)
What is. Evolution, what is a parasite and what does it do?, it grows, it learns, it seeps the life out of others, and that very thing is hiding in the people you love, and that thing decided.. To control a skeleton and take on an early 90s look..??? What the abomination that you're looking at is sans!, no i mean, i mean the eye, yeah, that is Fresh, a small purple parasite that takes control of a host giving them a 90s look and slowly absorbing their soul.
Coming from, Who knows where, Fresh is a evil fellow, while no real cannon can be determined for this guy he still has a story, created by one “CrayonQueen” (CQ for short) as the most RAD and, COOL sans ever, common misconception, Fresh and Error aren’t actually brothers in fact Error HATES fresh and only ever refers to him as a virus, or 90s trash, it really depends, fresh on his own didn’t mean much, but its the inside that counts, believing that the multiverse was a boring place he decided to make it better, by simply traveling the multiverse and trying to take as many people as possible turning them into freshs, during one “ball room” event Fresh would set up, creating as many parasites as possible then raid the event, after all of his parasite took over, he would meet someone, someone who talked to him, Fresh cant feel emotion but, he could understand, learning the importance of life fresh would, COMPLETELY ignore that and continue his raid, until meeting, The dragon, a giant hulking beast which would tell him the secrets of the universe, and the deepest, darkest, most horrible secret of all…… TUMBLR EXISTS, this traumatizes Fresh, allowing the opening to destroy all the parasites, but before they could actually get to Fresh himself, he escapes, ending, the tale of Fresh sans, for now, who knows. Maybe he’s out there. Waiting.
Uncle Samsonite
“It’s time to have some fun with Uncle Samsonite.”
Nearly a millennium ago, a great evil was cast into the world. Followers of a certain cult had performed an evil ritual, allowing this otherworldly force to enter the world.
However, upon his awakening, a great knight, Sir Bowen, stood before him, determined to put an end to his reign of terror once and for all. Samsonite battled, but due to Sir Bowen’s holy blade, he was defeated, but before he could be struck down for good, he leaped into the mortal man’s body, taking him as his first host and escaping death, but as a result, he would tether his otherworldly essence to this mortal coil, weakening him and forcing him to find a new host every decade to remain in our world.
Despite his precarious situation, the demon would move to operating in the shadows, terrorizing the children of the world at night, and feeding upon their souls. Across the Earth, his infamy would subtly spread as stories of a boogie man, and so would rise the legend of Smiling Sam, better known as Uncle Samsonite.
As Samsonite’s power grew and grew over time, he would set his sights on a new target. Jake Bowen, and his father, Mr. Dad. As it turns out, these were the descendants of the knight Sir Bowen, and he knew that if he managed to take over them as he’d done Sir Bowen in the past, he could regain his full strength once more and wreak havoc upon all of humanity once more.
He’d spent years attempting psychologically torturing Jake, forcing him to “lay down that beat” for him to dance to, while his father was none the wiser, but one day, Mr. Dad caught on, and as Samsonite kidnapped Jake and took him to his realm, in an attempt to take over him, he’d be lured out by Mr. Dad, Jake’s friend Isaac, and… Steve (he is Steve) using his favorite song, Pony by Ginuwine. They’d distract Samsonite, rescue Jake, and discover Samsonite’s true weakness: off-brand soda! (Apparently off-brand soda is holy, neat.) Despite his initial defeat at the hands of off-brand soda, Samsonite is nothing if not persistent. He’d manage to enter Mr. Dad’s body and begin taking over him, and while he’d be exorcized by the priest, Father John, he’d manage to escape, regain his strength, kidnap Isaac, and finally lure Jake into his domain, kidnapping him once more and this time finally fusing with his body.
His enemies would attempt to retrieve Jake, even somehow reviving the knight Sir Bowen, but despite their best efforts, Samsonite was simply too clever to lose once again, managing to match Sir Bowen in their rematch and escape to his domain, where he now awaits as his full power is slowly returned to him once more. Will he succeed? Will he fall once more to the hands of mortals? We can only wait and see, and Smiling Sam will be seeing you too very soon…
Experience & Skill
Fresh Sans
Fresh Sans while… stupid looking on the surface, IS an animal at his roots; they live by fear, and they never go into a fight unprepared, Fresh also has years of experience with fighting as every single host has to fight Fresh or he simply takes control. Because most of his “controlment” takes place instantly, it's safe to say it happens quickly.
Uncle Samsonite
As a “great old one” Samsonite has existed for thousands of years, and likely even older given he’s stated to have been a tyrant even back then, to the point he had his own cult. Given his near limitless power and ages of existence, it's not a stretch to say he has great experience with his abilities, from using them to trick others, mentally torturing people until they go insane, and even obtaining dozens of hosts efficiently for multiple decades. He’s also consistently extremely sneaky, able to approach others without them noticing, kidnapping people from rooms of people without anyone noticing in time, and managing to get behind them for a sneak attack. He might also be made up of pure imagination.
He’s also certainly no slouch when it comes to combat. While he doesn’t have too much experience against beings on his level, he can most certainly keep up with the best. He battled the great knight Sir Bowen, the greatest of a secret guild of knights formed with the express purpose of defeating Samsonite, while he had a holy blade capable of exploiting Samsonite’s main weakness. Even when they held a rematch a thousand years later, Samsonite was able to match Sir Bowen, expertly dodging his holy blade despite his elite training, showing great skill in battle. Most notably, Samsonite eventually betrayed and defeated his equal, The Green One, who is a fellow great old one that has existed about as long as Samsonite; The Green One was so demotivated, in fact, that he simply refused to try and battle Samsonite again, even with help, showing the extent of Samsonite’s prowess.
Equipment
Fresh Sans
DJ FurBs
It's a fuNKING furby dude… thats based. also i'm pretty sure it's possessed
Skateboard
Iconic to the Fresh fit, Fresh uses a skateboard to get around, uh… its a skateboard and that's based
Fresh Glasses
These iconic little things are sunglasses that hide the soul hidden within his eye, Fresh has total control on what text appears but it's primarily YOLO
Uncle Samsonite
Gun
Gun.
Camera
A camera that was used by Jake to try and record supernatural events. Samsonite instead used it to leave a message for Jake’s dad.
Closets
Samsonite’s main method of getting into his domain, he can use pretty much any closet, drawer, or bed as a gateway into our world, and use them to go back into his domain if he so desires. It seems people can only use them to enter Samsonite’s domain if he allows them to, as he can simply choose to close the gateway inside a closet at any time, preventing certain people from entering, although simply his favorite song, “Pony” by Ginuwine, will force it to open.
Bed
A bed he places Jake into as he’s absorbing his soul, preventing him from waking up. It’s unclear if this ability is tied to the bed.
Detective Lumpkin Disguise
A disguise he used to fool Mr. Dad; it comes with an ID, cool glasses and mustache, a notepad, and a pen.
Abilities
Fresh Sans
Sans’ (and AU) Abilities [DEBATABLE]
make a gif.com lets fucking GOOOOOOOOOO
Okay, so, there isn’t any proof of this but there is some reasons to believe that he can use sans’ abilities, like (how we will get to later) his parasites are able to attack souls, meaning he has some sort of monster like abilities, the next is, during Freshmaggedon, Fresh is able to take over multiple other sans’ who showcase the ability to use their attacks and abilities, presumably this allows Fresh to do the following
There's also a certain Geno!Fresh, which should be used
All this gives is normal sans stuff + the ability to reset lol…..
Fresh Teleportation
Probably the most well known ability, Fresh can teleport pretty much anywhere, like around the multiverse, it's also able to go to the Anti Void, which is beyond omni presence, he’s also able to pinpoint areas within a “infinite multiverse” like the christmas party without receiving a invite, it's also able to bring people to him (as shown above).
4th-Wall Awareness
After his parasites began taking over the Underverse, he came face to face with an incredibly strong Sans which speaks about a higher plane of existence, which is “beyond the void”, this would then be revealed to be the Tumblr users, which he can then talk to and interact with.
Regeneration
Fresh has a weirdly crazy high regen, not only can he just come back from attacks that should kill him, he can come back from complete erasure, not only this but he directly states that he gets HIT by these attacks and is fine.
Power Nullification
As you can see above, Fresh’s possession of Error could stop the… errors which are integral to Error’s abilities like his strings, and teleportation, I mean he’s literally made from the stuff.
Text Manipulation
Not much to add here, all it does is block swearing.
Uncle Samsonite
Dance Moves
Samsonite can never turn down a good challenge, and he’s got the dance moves to keep up with the best of them!
Teleportation
One of Samsonite’s most used abilities, he can teleport into closets despite not being there before, teleport to the end of hallways to ambush people, or simply teleport from any dangerous situations in a cloud of smoke back into his domain.
Shapeshifting
Uncle Samsonite can control his body in any way he wants, take any form he desires. He can use this to perform physics-breaking dance moves, rotate his head 180 degrees, stretch his neck long distances and unhinge his jaw, split his face open, and grow in size dramatically, either individual body parts like his hand to grab people and his head to swallow others whole, or his whole body to grow to giant sizes. He can even fully disguise himself as a person, making himself look like a detective to trick Jake’s dad.
Sleep Manipulation
He’s been shown putting people to sleep, usually to incapacitate them for a time, like when he put Jake’s dad to sleep to set up a fake video, and he could force Jake into a sleep so deep he was unable to wake up from anything except off-brand soda.
Body Puppetry
After taking Jake to his domain, he forcefully puppeteered his limp body around to make him record a fake video for his dad.
Immersion
Samsonite can exist inside recordings, talking to the person viewing it in real-time.
4th-Wall Awareness
Uncle Samsonite isn’t just with us, he sees beyond us. He can show up in his creator’s other Adobe After Effects projects, or manifest in the real world to haunt them (more in Before the Verdicts).
Perception Manipulation
He made Jake see his dad as Uncle Samsonite numerous times in the series.
Technology Manipulation
As the trickster he is, he can cause things like ceiling lights and christmas lights to turn on or off when he wants to fool someone. His control is precise enough to turn on specific LED lights on a strand to spell out a message.
Telekinesis
When he decides to have fun with someone, he can literally drag them into it with telekinesis. He used it to swing open a closet door without touching it before pulling in Mr. Dad before he could react.
Levitation
Within his domain, he can levitate to chase down anyone before they can escape from him.
Madness Manipulation
Samsonite’s torment of Jake drove him to the edge of insanity, to the point he was literally singing to himself Samsonite’s song and was only able to think about having fun with Uncle Samsonite. (important to note, this could also be caused by trauma, given Jake has just shown general fear towards Samsonite and even flinches if Samsonite’s nearby).
Possession
Whenever he’s in a tight spot, Samsonite can leave his current body and possess his opponent. After being defeated and close to death by the knight Sir Bowen, despite being pinned down, he could jump out of his body and into Bowen’s. He also did something similar to Jake’s Dad, entering his body when he was close to getting killed despite being in a free-fall at the time. As he takes over someone, their body begins to be morphed into one akin to his, with them being made unaware of this. He can begin contorting and warping their body till eventually their body is fully absorbed into him and it becomes an identical clone of him; he doesn’t just absorb their physical body, as his possession lets him absorb their very soul. The rate at which his possession transforms his victims does vary, but it is generally based on his power at the time. When he was extremely weak at the end of Season 1, it took multiple weeks to take over Jake’s dad; however, when he regained his power by Season 2, it took him only a couple of minutes to nearly fully take over Jake, and it’s implied that at his peak, he could take over Sir Bowen instantly. Finally, even if he’s exorcized from a body, he can quickly hop to another and attempt to take them over all the same.
Absorption
Samsonite is a creature who feeds off of the souls of children, absorbing them. We see this numerous times across the series, such as when he captured Steve, Jake, and Isaac and absorbed them into himself, trapping their consciousness in a stream of endlessly looping dreams. Speaking of…
Dream Manipulation
In “But A Dream Within A Dream” Samsonite shows off the depths of his control over dreams, trapping his victims in infinitely-looping dreams, with them continually waking up, but never escaping. We also see him show off this ability in earlier points of the series, such as when he showed up in Jake’s dream and told him he wanted his dad, or when he… literally shows up inside their own dreams numerous times.
Regeneration
Even after being severely weakened and left without a host to inhabit, he was able to regain his strength and reform his body back to normal in a couple of hours at most. He can also quickly heal from smaller wounds like gunshots pretty much instantly.
The Domain of Uncle Samsonite
As a Great Old One, Samsonite possesses his own domain, or essentially a pocket dimension he can enter and control at will. His domain is connected to every closet, drawer, space under the bed, etc, on the planet, allowing him to pop out from just about anywhere from there. He can drag people into his domain, hear any sound within it so long as it’s close to an opening to his domain, and camp inside it to recover strength. Samsonite’s domain is extremely large, appearing to be a mirror version of our world, as when entering it, Mr. Dad popped out on the other side upside-down, ran into a mirrored version of Jake’s bedroom (with seemingly an outside sky), and even a copy of himself.
Pillar Chase 2 Abilities
In the game Pillar Chase 2, Uncle Samsonite gets access to a kit of unique skills for him to hunt down the survivors with.
Dance: He absolutely breaks it down.
Take to Domain: He can take dancing players directly to his domain, regardless of if there’s a closet nearby. The players can only escape by finding the right door.
Dance Overlay (Passive): When Samsonite is using Beat Laydown or Uncle’s Wrath, players in his range will suffer from an overlay of green and purple neon lights, which will get brighter till the player starts dancing uncontrollably for 5 seconds, making them unable to move. He can also hit players to increase the overlay.
Domain Doors (Passive): Doors leading to Samsonite’s domain he can teleport to via Domain Traversal. Players who escape the domain will pop out of one of these doors, depending on which door they escaped through.
Beat Laydown: Highlights all nearby players purple, and gives him a significant speed boost to chase them down. Has an 8-second cooldown.
Domain Traversal: Teleports him to his domain, where he can use any of the various doors within it to exit through one of the doors on the map. He cannot use his other abilities besides punching while inside his domain. He can look through a door, which will highlight all living and dead players across the map. If he enters his domain with someone inside it, he will become slower, but it will go back to normal if the player inside leaves. Has a 6-second cooldown. He does not lose stamina when in his domain, as he begins floating.
Forms
Fresh Sans
Parasite (True!Fresh)
Fresh’s parasite is well. The actual Fresh, it acts on its own and can reproduce asexually creating an army of these little guys, they attack the soul directly, but it's not only limited to monster souls. Fresh can corrupt human souls as well, although it's a bit more difficult, these things are so potent the dragon thinks they could take over the multiverse if left unchecked, they can teleport themselves away as well, or just directly into people.
The Other Freshers
These are simply miscellaneous Freshs that just allow fresh to use their abilities, this includes, Blueberry, Gsans, Error, FellSans, Geno, and presumably many more.
Uncle Samsonite
Demon (Original Samsonite)
Samsonite’s original state at the peak of his power. In this state, he’s stated capable of ending the human race, and could only be matched by the strongest of knights, Sir Bowen. It also appears that abilities like his possession are instantaneous in this form, although doing so will tether him to this mortal coil and drastically weaken him, forcing him to find a new host every 10 years to survive.
Feats
Fresh Sans
Overall
Has mentally scarred Error
Has no sense of personal boundaries
Comparable to Geno, Error, and others
Almost took over the Underverse in Freshmageddon
Also really cool
Yeah he has no canon feats…
Sorry…
Uncle Samsonite
Overall
Is literally a demon from hell.
Has existed for thousands of years.
Possibly related in some way to fucking Cthulhu?? (don't look up lovecraft cats name)
Matched Sir Bowen in combat during their rematch.
Defeated Jake, Jake’s dad, Steve, and Father John.
Wants you to lay down that beat.
Cmon… dont you want to?
Power
Samsonite threw this poor dude across the horizon (0.05 Tons of TNT)
Via Uncle’s Wrath, can stomp hard enough to shake the ground around him and stagger nearby foes.
Speed
Launched Mr. Dad and himself to the end of his domain in seconds (Mach 0.86 - 885.46, debatably 69.84 Quadrillions X SoL, see Before the Verdicts)
Durability
Scaling
Fresh Sans
Crayon Queen Sans’
Considering Fresh has explicitly tanked attacks from the likes of Error, someone who can threaten just about every other Sans AU out there, we can use him to scale to the other Sans that Crayon Queen owns.
Error!Sans (AmA)
SwapPaps says Error could erase his universe.
Error can create rips in space time.
Error could destroy two universes within an unknown time frame.
Error could destroy entire AUs including timelines.
Swap!Paps can move at 59% the SOL
GENO (aftertale)
Geno was sure he and Sans could “end all existence” or their timeline.
The save state is considered a gap in timespace, where going there boots you out of time, this is reiterated multiple times, Sans can react to going there (see Before the Verdicts)
Oh also death can travel an infinite multiverse through travel speed.
Uncle Samsonite
Pillar Chase 2
Ah, Roblox.
Scaling for this can be shockingly difficult, given most of the monsters barely interact, and most of the time, they’re just killing drastically weaker survivors. However, we can get a solid idea for how most compare to each other via lore details. Namely, Valem.
Essentially, Valem is a high-ranking demon from Hell, who holds… less than favorable opinions on mortals. Regardless, Valem is someone who tends to acknowledge strength, and notably, possesses telepathic abilities that give them great in-sight on most of the characters in the cast, even getting information on people when they themselves don’t know it (like with WYST).
The point is, Valem is a fairly reliable source, and their various comments on the other monsters can be used to get a gauge of how they compare to one another.
What matters for this scaling section is how Valem not only knows of Uncle Samsonite, using his original name, which implies he knows him of long ago, but he even thinks of Uncle Sam as powerful enough to make an alliance with, which is important as he tends to look down on weaker demons and dislikes allying with them, implying Samsonite is of comparable power to himself.
Now, from there, scaling is pretty simple. Valem comments on the strength of various other demonic entities, so we can use the notable characters he finds to be weaker than or comparable to him to scale them to Samsonite.
These are:
WYST [Debatable, see Before the Verdicts]
With that being said, Samsonite would scale to:
Fogborn can maneuver around as a lightning bolt (Mach 260.67 - 1,282.8)
Niloticus is stated to possess an indestructible skeleton, and is unkillable by any human weapons.
Faker can generate and maintain an eclipse (9.17 Exatons of TNT)
Inkfell could restore The Cycle, which is implied to be a universe, and defeated Shadowborne while he had taken a piece of his power (Universal)
WYST created and controlled a universe, and while later weakened, he could still hold total control over a video game world (Universal, Debatable, see Before the Verdicts)
Mario’s Madness
Yes, I know this comes out of left field, but surprisingly, Samsonite does have a fairly straightforward scaling chain to Mario’s Madness.
For those unaware, Mario’s Madness is a fangame for the game Friday Night Funkin, which contains a large assortment of fan made horror characters relating to… Mario.
Why does this matter? Well, according to the Ultra M trailer for Pillar Chase 2, the version of MX and Forest King used in Pillar Chase 2 are EXPLICITLY the ones from Mario’s Madness story. This is backed-up by MX’s design in Pillar Chase 2 being pretty clearly more based on his Mario’s Madness design, and the fact that Ultra M (the main antagonist of Mario’s Madness) is voiced by his official voice actor.
In general, it’s pretty explicit that the versions of the two here are the same as their Mario’s Madness counterparts, so feats for both from said fangame will be touched upon (and for the record, no, Samsonite does not scale to Ultra M himself, given he’s portrayed as being far above his pay grade).
MX:
Stomps hard enough to shake the area and nearly kill BF (15.04 Tons of TNT)
Survived a fall into a massive pit, before jumping back out in seconds.
Can (seemingly) illuminate the entire sky of his world (Debatable)
Forest King:
Weaknesses
Fresh Sans
While Fresh is incredibly smart and an incredible tactician, he’s still an animal, and as animals do, when cornered will freak out, he’s also just not directly that smart fighting wise, while it's true he scales to Error and the other Sans’ he really doesn’t fight, he mostly relies on his intimidation as well as just breaking if he’s pushed to far
Uncle Samsonite
Samsonite, while strong, does have a couple glaring weaknesses. For instance, off-brand soda can scare off and even harm Samsonite, despite being in the hands of a much weaker being, due to their seemingly holy nature. Speaking of holy, holy weapons in general can fuck him up, being able to permanently kill him if struck too much, although he can still power through pretty deadly blows from them such as being stabbed through the chest or a barrage of off-brand soda-coated bullets, and he has learnt to avoid them via his own agility, so he’s not completely defenseless against them. Additionally, it’s established that Samsonite cannot resist a dance challenge, and will usually be distracted by someone challenging him to a dance fight, although Samsonite can just… stop dancing if he decides he’s had enough, but this does lead to possibly Samsonite’s greatest weakness: his ego. Samsonite tends to underestimate weaker foes, which can lead to him being overwhelmed if caught off-guard by something, usually holy weapons. For instance, even though he was significantly stronger than Mr. Dad, he was still brought to near death through his use of off-brand soda simply due to not being prepared for him to have it, and even at the peak of his power, he was initially defeated by Sir Bowen due to his possession of a holy weapon, which Samsonite was not prepared to face.
He also gets burned by fire mixtapes for some fucking reason.
Before the Verdict
R>F Samsonite AND FRESH???!?!?!
Okay so, this is weird, let's start with Fresh as he’s the weirder one to talk about
In an april fools comic, Fresh does.. This, for context that is CQ, who y'know, made the comics, while at first we thought this could qualify for R>F it really doesn’t, at most its scaling but even then that's a bit weird [TO BE EXPLAINED], as for the rules of how R>F Fresh would’ve had to gone into the “real world” which, we don't see, neither is he brought by a higher force, next is the fact that Fresh brings CQ down into fiction, which goes against how R>F works meaning sadly Outer fresh is just out of the question..
On the other hand, Samsonite’s part is pretty easy to explain. While it is consistent with his creator that he exists in the real world, and can show up to haunt him whenever, it similarly breaks the rules of R>F scaling. He shows up through his own power, not someone else, and in general there’s way too little context to it to really back up it being R>F besides “he shows up with his creator.”
So in general, neither should get R>F scaling here.
Creator Scaling
OOooooh boy this is gonna be fun!, just for the fun of it let's start with Fresh again
SOOooo should Fresh scale to CQ, yeah absolutely, but, it's not so simple, in the comic we discussed earlier we can see that CQ is probably, just a regular human, no big powers no nothing, but she does have incredibly high level creation hax, with her drawing tablet, which is how she makes the AU’s, so the drawing tablet should scale to the entire cosmology, besides this, Fresh should also have access to the Tablet (using it to forward the story), this gives Fresh some cool abilities like Plot Manipulation (Should be able to use CQ’s drawing tablet), Immersion/BFR (Can send people into alternate AUs), 4th Wall Awareness/Manipulation (Do i have to explain this?), Thanks to MadMew on discord we can find how big the cosmology is, using base UT for scaling (as Timelines act the exact same as how they would in base UT as they do in AfterTale), These timelines are created through Loading and Resetting, which is how Chara used their abilities in the comic, which intern create new timelines with different outcomes, using this logic, we can use an exact statement from Frisk for the amount of resets done to beat fresh, making the drawing tablet being able to make AfterTale about 536x UNI, in ask error we also get a number, which is about 9109043436x UNI, while true this is mostly hax based, Error is able to scale to this physically due to him passively being able to destroy entire timelines just by existing, but the tablet can get even higher, with the infinite multiverse statement.
For Samsonite, much like before, the general lack of context for everything makes his scaling way less reliable. He never fights or physically interacts with Jake much, at best traumatizing him, and there’s no reason to assume Jake is physically all that impressive. He’s pretty blatantly just a regular human, so in general, just because he exists in the “real world” doesn’t actually mean anything, so scaling Samsonite to his creator wouldn’t change a thing.
How Big is Samsonite’s Domain? + The Funny Speed Feat
Oh boy, this is a lot to talk about.
To put it simply, the size of Samsonite’s domain more or less depends on what you define as the “mortal world.”
Disclaimer: How big Samsonite’s domain is will primarily affect Samsonite’s major speed feat covered in the Feats section, and thus will be the main focus of this section.
For starters, his domain contains bare minimum every closet and space under every bed in the world, so using that, you can estimate its size to be about 12,335.93 meters across, and so, his feat of pulling Mr. Dad to the end of his domain would get to around Mach 0.86, which while notable, is a far low-ball.
We are shown Samsonite’s domain contains an entire copy of the mortal world within itself, including copies of residents within it, such as when Mr. Dad ran into a copy of himself within it. Given Samsonite is established NUMEROUS times to operate on a world-wide scale, being hyped up as a being that could bring about the end of the world, and the fact that Samsonite’s domain is directly portrayed as a mirror version of our world AND that it stretches across every single closet and bed in the entire world, the assumption that the domain’s scope is comparable to that of our planet is pretty reasonable. With that, Samsonite’s best direct speed feat can reach up to Mach 885.46.
Finally, the highest assumption for the size of Samsonite’s domain follows similar logic, but assumes a greater scope for the mortal world. We see briefly that Samsonite’s domain appears to contain an outdoors of sorts, with its own sky. The domain of The Green One, a comparable being to Uncle Samsonite, also features a fully clear sky with its own Sun, and given Samsonite originates from an entirely different dimension (Hell. Literally just Hell), AND that we know this realm exists beyond the mortal world, there is an argument to be made that the scope of Samsonite’s domain may hold an entire universe within it, as it would make sense for literal Hell to be outside the scope of our universe. Now, in fairness, this is absolutely a very high-ball interpretation without super solid evidence, so we won’t be relying much on it, but it is a possible argument to be made for it. Using this assumption, Samsonite can reach a MAXIMUM possible speed of 69.84 Quadrillions X SoL.
For a more reasonable high-end, since we know The Green One’s domain contains a star, we can assume it’s at the very least a similar distance from Earth to our world’s, so assuming Samsonite’s domain is of similar size (perfectly reasonable, given both entities are consistently portrayed as equals, with Samsonite seemingly being even stronger), Samsonite can still reach speeds of up to 11.85 X SoL, which is likely more understandable to many.
WYST’s bitch-ass
Likely one of the more interesting pieces of scaling brought on by Pillar Chase 2, we felt it had enough meat to warrant its own section.
So, WYST no longer holds his universal levels of power, and no one scales. Simple, right? Well, it’s actually got more to it than that. As it turns out, it’s been confirmed by his creators that he still has his godly powers, it’s just that he’s become too stupid to properly utilize them.
We also know this given Valem comments on it, stating WYST holds great potential.
So, if WYST still holds the same level of power as before, wouldn’t Samsonite scale if he’s even more powerful? Well, that’s the thing, it’s unclear how Samsonite really compares to WYST. Unlike the previous scaling, Valem’s statement on his power does not give us a clear idea of how powerful he is compared to other demons like Valem and Samsonite. Valem is, in fact, impressed by WYST’s sheer power, and wishes for WYST to join them, which very clearly puts WYST far above the conventional cast Samsonite is above. The fact Valem was genuinely interested in WYST’s power, yet didn’t seem to care as much for Samsonite’s, does indicate that WYST is likely above even Samsonite’s own power, so it is kinda hard to properly argue Samsonite should compare.
Is OkRodr’s scale usable?
As you may know, 6-7D underverse comes up a lot when debating these characters, and as per the nature of fresh scaling to CQ and Error we need to go over this, but first heavy disclaimer, DO NOT harass bully or attack Okrodr, i do not know them, nor do i think they are a bad scaler, i just think they got some things wrong, you got that? Good, let's begin then.
First off, What is DokuDokis scale for the underverse? Well, she believes that its 7D in nature, and goes over how her version of the underverse works, which is, 3D is the main undertale timeline, 4D is the timeline (older and younger etc..), 5D are other universes which she believes there are infinite of, leading to 6D with the multiverse, and 7D with anything beyond that, this is directly from DokuDokis, what Okrod proposes is that because Ask!Error was supposed to be merging their multiverses and therefore cosmologies, to which i have to say, where is this stated?, we know for a fact, and a while before ask error CrayonQueen thought the underverse was a multiverse, we also know that CQ likes throwing the word multiverse/timeline/universe (just look at Genos scaling section) around a lot in her works, which would moreso relate to how the actual undertale timeline works, an ask from a tumblr user is also brought up, which asks about how many aftertales there are, to which CQ responds to, but this isn’t an instant ace in the hole, again she had these ideas before working on ask error, with the term of Timeline being used a lot in AfterTale, which becomes a huge plot point later on which is why the timeline wipes are shown and what resets are.
Next point is the use of Core!Frisk in AskError, to which i say, that really doesn’t mean much if anything? The same logic is used for using ReaperTale and DreamTale, and that's, DokuDokis says its cannon, which again doesn’t mean anything for scaling, those are not her characters and it would still not be useful for scaling or proving anything meaningful.
Sadly NO 7D fresh isn’t real, nor is 7D error or 7D geno.. Sorry, Freshbros.
Infinite speed Error/Death/Fresh/Geno/CQ/GOD DAMN IT ALL
This section was widely debated between members of the blog, so we’ll include arguments for and against the arguments.
FOR
First off, even boring, it's time to sit you down and talk about Underverse Cosmology, first of all, we know that there’s a multiverse, and in every under!whatnot universe, loading and resetting exists, there are also direct statements of timelines existing, a timeline should, well time itself, which is 5D, in each of these timelines, there exists a space outside time, to get there you must reset the game, which is manipulating time, this is reiterated multiple times (sans would be proud), but wait! How do we get Infinite-Immeasurable speed off this?, well simply put Sans was able to grab Papyrus mid teleportation, in earlier showings of being brought there, it's clear that the world around them is moving, to add to this, weaker forms of teleportation, like Sans’, use the same effect, but it's shown that he is in fact moving, next up is Error and his own timeline fuckery, Error is directly stated to be able to destroy entire AUs, which using AT logic includes the timeline, this is also added upon in AskError, where Error directly says that a reset could undo his damage, but in the AntiVoid, souls cannot reset, meaning there is no Time/space within the Antivoid, it's also important to note, this place is beyond OmniPresence, its beyond all known universes, and as it does with Errors, which it makes, isn’t bound by any universal laws, Which means TWO things.
Immeasurable speed Fresh works.
AGAINST
As the section above explained, the primary arguments for infinite/immeasurable speed scaling for Fresh are:
Sans grabbed onto Papyrus mid-teleportation.
Error!Sans’ errors are not bound by any universal laws, which would possibly include time.
The primary issue we (me, NormallyNormal) hold with this logic is that we don’t believe the arguments presented are particularly convincing when put under scrutiny. While Sans does appear to react to the teleportation after it had already started, this more appears to be a visual effect than anything else that indicates the teleportation is about to begin. While this does seem to portray movement, showing the teleportation had already begun, we can go against this by pointing out that the pillars in the background of this scene were at the same elevation as before, even after Sans had already grabbed onto Papyrus. If they were in the middle of movement, and indeed traversing to a space outside time, then Sans and Chara would’ve been ways off of the ground by this point, yet we can directly see that all of them, including Papyrus, were at the same elevation as the panel right before (you can tell by the position of Papyrus’ head, which is at about the same altitude in both panels). Yes, the effect is consistently used to indicate teleportation, but the fact they had visibly not moved yet does make it dubious whether the teleportation had even begun to take them away yet, especially when Chara’s reaction similarly indicates the fact they’re surprised by the fact they had begun to be teleported away (while they’re visibly in the same place as before), showing that the teleportation does seem to indicate when it’s about to begin before it actually does so (otherwise, it would be weird for Chara to stop mid-sentence and notice the teleportation was starting if it was instant).
For Error’s argument, while it does seem valid on paper, we (the singular Nerm in question) do believe it’s generally too vague to be reliable. The statement is incredibly generalized, so trying to apply this to time too and use it for immeasurable speed without any further context is fairly odd, especially when the statement is specifically told in the context of Error’s being able to jump between universes, and nothing to do with time. The statement’s purpose is more to illustrate that Errors are able to freely hop across the multiverse, while most other characters are unable to do so as easily, due to the way the universes in their lore function, meaning the statement is more specifically referring to their ability to dimension-hop, therefore trying to use it to apply to speed, when it was never even meant to tie into that in the first place, is fairly odd, and so, we (me) don’t believe that this one statement should be valid for immeasurable speed.
Overall, the opposition does not find the arguments for infinite or immeasurable speeds to be particularly convincing.
Verdicts
Okay so, while normally my blogs have one definitive verdict, we think it's best if we did two for this one due to how close it is
Fresh Sans
Stats
Let's start with the most direct, Stats, directly.. Uh, Fresh throws a woman… uh, yeah that's it, Samsonite clearly outstats going on direct feats alone. But don't count out Fresh just yet, due to his bigger stuff, Scaling to Error and Geno, who can single handedly destroy entire timelines, which far outclass ANYTHING Samsonites done, no matter how high you put him (Samsonites max being around Uni-Uni+) Fresh will always be higher (Multi to Multi+ to Complex Multi), Meaning simply put Samsonite has 0 way to get around him AP or Durability wise.
But Speed is slightly different. Using calculable ends Samsonite is reasonably faster, Fresh scaling to Swap!Pap at around 59% the SOL, while Samsonite gets about 11x The SOL, but!, here's where things get a bit tricky, at high ends Fresh gets Infinite speed, easily, while Samsonite is stuck at calculable speeds, Fresh gets even HIGHER with Immeasurable speed feats with being able to exist within the Anti-Void which doesn’t contain Space nor Time, and Grillby proving movement per teleportation, meaning Sans grabbing Papyrus is simply just an Immeasurable speed feat further diminishing the Stat gap.
But even still ignoring inf and imm Fresh, the speed gap doesn’t mean much when Samsonite gets way too Cocky around people he thinks are weaker, And Fresh wouldn’t pose an instant threat, meaning Fresh should take stats, easily.
Abilities And Win-Conditions
Starting with Abilities. There's a lot to go over, with Fresh’s MANY instant wincons, like bringing Sammy to the Anti-Void and having him erased, to being able to just negate his teleportation leaving Samsonite open to an attack which he won't be expecting, but wait!, you may say, Samsonites Sleep and Madness Manipulation should EASILY take down Fresh! Well firstly no, both of these things take time to pull off, and Samsonite has to get someone into his domain and keep them there long enough to get Sleep manipulation off, his Soul manipulation can also only work with incap which Fresh can just leave, not to mention if Fresh gets into a sticky situation, UNFRESH teleportation would be able to eject him from a vessel meaning Samsonite has to leave his domain, and his only abilities that could buy him a win, and Madness manipulation is given the same problem, it takes time, and he has to be there to cause whatever trauma, which again Fresh can escape from.
But wait even Further! What about Samsonites Soul Absorption?, and to that i say, Fresh doesn’t HAVE a soul to consume, if anything Samsonite eats the Sans AND the parasite, which isn’t a good thing, but we’ll get to that later, BUT can't he just use his puppetry to control sans?, WELLLLL, Error!Fresh actually counters this with his own Puppetry, which is MUCH stronger and WAY more deadly, meaning Samsonite just doesn’t have a clear way around anything that Fresh can throw at him, Making Samsonite the winner of Abilities
But we aren’t done beating down the old uncle JUST yet. Moving onto Wincons, it's quite clear who wins here, with Fresh being able to consistently spew out an infinite amount of himself, his small posse of an army, and the biggest ace in the hole, THE DRAWING TABLET AND GENO!FRESH, starting with the Drawing tablet, its clear to see how outclassed Samsonite is here, with its Creation, and while not so effective Plot hax, hell its arguable if Sammy can even reach Fresh once he goes here, as the most he’s shown is simply looking beyond the 4th wall, while he could POSSIBLY in HEAVY air quotes get there its unlikely he can as at most he has to have multiple years of prep time, to even mind control someone, though anything inside he can mess with, but that doesn’t matter much if Fresh simply, closes the window into the game world, leaving Samsonite for dead.
But there's another wincon here, FRESH PULLING OUT THE FRISK SPECIAL, and SPAMMING a reset until he can win with Geno!Fresh, with save loading he can load into optimal positions to get a clear win, but absorbing Geno’s soul would stop Fresh from being able to, but being able to create pretty much any object if the plot demands it means he simply can just keep Samsonite at bay, until he lands a clean hit, or reset until he brings him to the Anti-Void meaning the clear winner here is Fresh,.. again.
Experience and IQ
Admittedly Fresh is outclassed here, while Fresh is always cautious no matter the situation he just doesn’t have the Experience to put up with Samsonite, who has been fighting things for years, and has multiple counter measures, even though that might not mean much Fresh should be able to force a tie here at minimum due to his army and ability to easily get away and device a plan, going to the AntiVoid means Fresh can’t do anything to defend against him leaving while his army fights, now the real question, is this in character, and to that i say.. yeah actually!, when faced with someone who could enter his domain he retreats and tries to figure out a way to control them or catch them off guard, hell he even brings error for a second opinion (though he can’t do that here sadly) he can still devise and work around Samsonites abilities as simply put, Samsonite has never fought someone who can just leave all of his attacks, and while Fresh seems like a jokester on the surface, his ability to deceive and manipulate the people around him, nets him a small edge over the uncle, as while he can think on his toes and use his experience as backup, Fresh just knows how to plan around people, leaving Sammy eventually, defenseless against the next onslaught leading us to the final nail in the coffin.
Parasites
And this is it, the final nail for the Uncle, Fresh’s parasites are fucking BUSTED, while simply a what if, Fresh can effectively control things (which is pushed in cannon by error) that DO NOT EXIST, Ontop of that Fresh being able to make an infinite amount of these little guys means the Uncle is out of options, his body warping doesn’t help as these things go for your soul, not the physical form, which Samsonite has NEVER defended against, which leaves him open, next thing, the only way to get rid of these little fuckers is to absorb them, which he cannot do, due to Fresh’s enate ability to resist any outside effect of a host, and the fact that Samsonite isn’t actually targeting anything as his abilities mostly revolve around the soul which the Fresh parasites do not have, its also possible that Fresh cannot absorb the souls of things equal or stronger then himself, or he would’ve used it on someone like the Green One but because he never does this its quite possible that he simply cant, but lets assume he can, Unfresh is subconscious and if you aren’t directly near the uncle, his ability stops working, and the anti void would be able to cleanse it do to it being able to erase anything that doesn’t resist it, like fresh, this means the infinite dream gets nullified, if you dont believe that, Freshs soul power outclasses Samsonites, and with a quick file load he can negate Samsonites ability to absorb his parasites further, leaving him as a punching bag, ontop of that there is a real possibility that Fresh can just ignore being put to sleep forever, by just being stronger and being able to escape to the Anti-Void means he can leave his dream state and continue deviceing a plan to win because we have 0 reason to believe Samsonites domain power nulls Fresh, while his own parasites can powernul Samsonite so hard he loses his abilities, Fresh can simply wait till Samsonites soul. Well… breaks under the pressure of a parasite, considering Fresh is capable of dealing with all 7 human souls due to toucan, which are far beyond ANYTHING Samsonite has shown means he can widdle the souls inside Samsonite, to which he has no answer for, Samsonite will be left running away, as he loses his powers, his own domain, and eventually, his soul breaks under the pressure.
Conclusion
"If you wanna help a bro whose hurtin on the inside, you just gotta make em hurt worse on the outside"
Advantages:
Stronger no matter what ends you use
Unfresh allows a quick and easy escape
Having no soul probably means most of Samsonites abilities don’t work
Inf-Imm speeds shut down any and all sealment options
Escaping into his own Dimension or the Anti-Void completely counters Samsonites seelment
Fresh’s parasites counter everything Samsonite can do
Soul attacks instantly kill Sammy
Samsonites Regeneration gets negated by the Parasites
The drawing tablet negates any option Samsonite has of getting to Fresh
Geno!Fresh lets Fresh reset until he lands a winning blow
Fresh is smart enough to back off and devise a plan to win
Bringing Samsonite to the Anti-Void would erase him from existence and remove his memories
Anti-Void can just cleanse Fresh
Simply destroying Samsonites realm shuts down his teleportation and any way to escape Fresh
Fresh has total Area control
Fresh can, without a parasite, instantly turn Samsonite into a Fresh with relative ease
Disadvantages:
Speed is debatable although it doesn’t matter that much.
Samsonite can somewhat deal with the AP-stomp with regen.
Absorption.. maybe?
Equals out teleporting although its much weaker
paperjams daycare.
In the end, there really isn’t much that Samsonite could do, the most he can is hope that he can slink away in his small weird baby form, or teleport away until fresh eventually raids his domain, Samsonite while definitely more experienced has no reason to believe a small skeleton would be strong enough to beat him, especially when Fresh prefers taking hits and can escape any permanent damage Samsonite can do, by either teleporting away or completely suppressing the Uncles abilities, destroying Samsonites domain would simply lead to his downfall as without it, he can’t do anything, with his inability to gain strength through the Parasites, and inability to land a real attack on Fresh, eventually he gets worn down, in an ironic twist of fate Samsonite cannot win no matter how hard he tries Geno!Fresh’s constant resetting and loading, and The drawing tablet being able to simply erase him Fresh will win.
Samsonite may have learned the Beat, but ironically, Fresh could beat him down harder, The winner, is Fresh
Uncle Samsonite
Stats
Stats here are likely one of the most important parts of the debate here, so let’s break down their feats bit by bit.
In terms of direct feats, Fresh does… nothing lmao. However, being a top tier of his verse, he still has solid scaling to fall back on. Characters like Error have very casual statements of being able to destroy universes, and Geno and Sans being able to threaten all of existence means that, ultimately, Fresh can solidly scale to his cosmology, being bare minimum Multiversal+. On the other hand, Samsonite can casually beat around regular humans, survive gunfire, and tank stabs to the chest, though most of his best stuff similarly comes from scaling. Beings like Faker can cause and maintain eclipses, getting up to 9.17 Exatons of TNT, and at his peak, he can compare to Inkfell restoring the Cycle, which is stated to be a universe, letting him peak at Universal levels of power. Even without the debatable WYST scaling, Samsonite is no slouch, but even then, Fresh holds an absurd power advantage here that Samsonite cannot ever hope to match.
Despite this, this isn’t the end of our favorite uncle, as speed is where Samsonite gains one of his biggest advantages.
Once again relying on scaling, Fresh is absolutely not slow, being able to compare to Paps avoiding light at 59% SoL, and he can even scale to a few infinite and even immeasurable speed feats! Except, as brought up in the BtV, there are issues with Fresh’s infinite and immeasurable ends that we believe make them unconvincing. To summarize, Sans’ feat of grabbing onto Papyrus mid-teleportation seems to more imply Sans grabbed Papyrus as the teleportation was activating, rather than when he was already being teleported, notably shown by Chara pretty explicitly reacting to the fact the teleportation was starting, rather than the teleportation itself, and Error being stated to unbounded by all laws of the universe is generally too vague, and within the context it’s being told in, is clearly more meant to refer to the idea that Error can freely hop between universes, unlike other characters who have a harder time due to the way universes in CQ’s story work, having no real correlation to time or speed. With that being said, Samsonite can react to and casually avoid gunfire, scale to Fogborn reacting and maneuvering as a lightning bolt, reaching speeds from Mach 260.67 to Mach 1,282.8, and more importantly, his own domain traversal feat getting a variety of ends: from an absolute minimum of Mach 0.68, a mid-end of Mach 885.46, a reasonable high-ball of 11.85 X SoL, and an absolute maximum of 69.84 Quadrillion X SoL. While the extreme high-ball is, understandably, based on a lot of assumptions, and so likely not usable, the regular high-end of assuming the dimension contains a Sun is perfectly valid, given we pretty directly see The Green One’s domain holds a Sun identical to our own, and there’s no reason to believe Samsonite’s is any smaller given their portrayal as equals, with Samsonite likely being superior. Removing their more debatable ends, Samsonite holds a nearly 20x speed advantage here, comparing his FTL+ feat to Fresh’s relativistic scaling, giving him a clear and very notable edge in speed.
Overall, Samsonite is MUCH faster when using their more reliable ends, but regardless of what you use for Samsonite, Fresh will always be astronomically more powerful.
Abilities And Win-Conditions
Despite the power difference, these two’s abilities and win-cons are able to turn the tide.
There’s a surprisingly lack of overlap between the two, so we'll cover that first.
Fresh and Sam can both use telekinesis, teleport themselves and others at will, regenerate from the physical destruction of their body, and even peer into the 4th wall or break into reality, making the application of stuff like the drawing tablet useless.
Besides that, Fresh’s teleportation has shown even wider application, hopping between entire universes across the infinite multiverse and even dimensions that omnipresent beings cannot reach, giving him absurd reach and the potential to remove Samsonite from the fight outright. He has better ranged options with Gaster Blasters and bone attacks, which could destroy Samsonite’s soul, he can regenerate from full-on existence erasure or reset with the powers of Geno!Fresh, and once he’s possessed someone, he can suppress their powers.
On the other hand, Samsonite can shapeshift drastically to attack from long distances or grow in size to swallow Fresh whole, enter video recordings and the like to hide from Fresh for a time, permanently put Fresh to sleep and haunt him within his dreams, make Fresh suffer from hallucinations to disorient him and make him see Uncle Samsonite in places he’s not, absorb Fresh through physical contact, melding his body into his own and turning his body INTO Samsonite, preventing stuff like him teleporting out of it given… his body is now Samsonite, can’t really teleport out by that point, similarly absorb his soul and trap him in an infinite dream loop, use abilities like Beat Laydown or his domain to highlight and see Fresh and any support he may have nearby, or just leave his body to possess Fresh directly.
These two have a LOT of ways to end the fight, both from a range and up close. Stuff like Fresh’s soul destruction powers, BFR, and possession could put down Samsonite for good, but likewise, Fresh has no resistance to having his body absorbed and becoming Samsonite alongside his soul, or being forcefully put to sleep permanently altogether, and simply possessing him is solid option for incapacitating him for good, regardless of his regeneration or resets. Fresh can attempt to use stuff like his parasites to scout out Samsonite or avoid a direct confrontation, but Samsonite’s Pillar Chase 2 abilities would let him find the main Fresh and continue chasing him down. However, Samsonite’s superior speed edge gives him a big advantage in allowing him to pull off his win-cons if he decides to go for them first (which will be elaborated on in the next section), giving Samsonite a slight edge in this category.
Experience and IQ
A shockingly crucial part of this debate. While Fresh is certainly skilled in his own right, Samsonite has him MASSIVELY outclassed. He’s lived for and tormented people for almost a millenia, battled the most skilled knights of his time, defeated The Green One, a being just as old and skilled as himself, and he’s consistently portrayed as a clever manipulator, identifying potential threats and actively avoiding them. He’s simply got way better showings of proper combat and utilizing his powers that Fresh can’t compare to.
However, let’s discuss their personalities. Both are fairly overconfident and tend to not take foes too seriously, but an important distinction is that Sam KNOWS when to lock tf in. The only times he’s lost to overconfidence is when he’s battling humans who are weaker than him, and when he’s aware of the threat someone poses, he tends to go for the win right away, just like how he identified Isaac was a legit threat to him, and so wasted no time using his teleportation to rush him down. Against someone like Fresh, who ironically relies on intimidation to get by, he’d absolutely be weary, given how he’s shown to not mess around against other supernatural beings like The Green One. His sheer experience would definitely clue him in on being careful against Fresh, while Fresh lacks the same knowledge to really compare; in fact, the fact he’s so much stronger than Samsonite makes it even less likely he’d go for his main win-cons, given how he only reacts aggressively when he’s cornered and in actual danger, something he would not realize he’s in until Samsonite has actually landed one of his possible win-conditions, at which point it’s already too late for him. Sure, Fresh might similarly be cautious about facing off against someone like Samsonite, someone he’s never met before, but the point is, him being so much stronger, and Samsonite’s own skill at manipulation, means he’s very likely to fall for Samsonite’s tricks and get overconfident, believing Samsonite presents no real threat to him till it’s too late. And of course, the fact Samsonite is weaker, something he himself would realize pretty quickly, means he’s just more naturally willing to pull out his deadlier tricks quickly, as he’s shown to do.
And that’s one of the most crucial aspects of this debate: how they fight. Fresh almost NEVER uses most of the abilities that would net him the win here. He barely ever uses the soul-destroying attacks such as Gaster Blasters and bones outside of people much stronger than him or large hordes of enemies (which neither apply to Samsonite), while he’s used the teleportation to fuck with people, he’s never used it on another person mid-combat to BFR them, he only really goes for his possession when encountering someone particularly strong he wishes to take over, when he feels he’s in danger, or when he’s feeling like invading the multiverse, but similarly, almost never in actual combat, and his general laid-back attitude against someone who he would perceive as harmless to him means it’s super unlikely he would actually decide to go for any of these; his most common strategy is just to hit them really hard with his baseball bat, something Samsonite could regenerate from quite quickly and counter-attack; even if Fresh was faster, he’s so unlikely to actually use his lethal choices before Samsonite just thinks to use his actually instant-win options, while Samsonite literally ALWAYS goes for his possession when facing a stronger foe, and has repeatedly pulled out his absorption when he wants to end someone quickly. Combine that with his aforementioned reasons for taking Fresh seriously early on, and it’s clear that between the two, Samsonite holds a massive edge over this category that would allow him to pull off the win first.
Parasites
Finally, let’s compare their biggest aspect, their parasitic capabilities. Both Fresh and Sam can quickly take over the minds of whoever they hop onto, and while Fresh having to battle for control of their minds would imply he himself could resist similar possession, Samsonite’s explicitly puts the target into infinitely repeating dreams, meaning Fresh would not be able to fight back against it, given he’d just be trapped forever in a dream within a dream. Now, it is important to note that Samsonite can only possess one person at a time from what we see of him, while Fresh can possess a whole-ass multiverse’s worth of people, obviously giving him a massive edge, but it is also important to note that it is unlikely Fresh’s parasites would actually be able to possess Samsonite, given they’d need to reach Samsonite’s soul, which is located inside the infinite dream loop. We see this during But A Dream Within A Dream, with Samsonite appearing within the dream loop of his victims, which are currently souls inside his body, pretty heavily implying that his soul similarly resides within this infinite dream loop. This makes the parasites reaching him more or less impossible, as not only is it highly unlikely they could traverse an infinite dream loop till they reach Samsonite’s soul, but their lack of own souls does genuinely mean it’s dubious if they could even enter the infinite dream loop to begin with; essentially, they either get trapped in an infinite dream loop alongside his other victims, or they can’t even enter the dream loop to begin with and are locked out of reaching Samsonite’s soul, not to mention his absurd shape-shifting would make it hard for them to stick to his body regardless, when he could easily just eat and absorb them when near.
Ultimately, Fresh has an absurd advantage in terms of number, but his parasites simply wouldn’t effectively work on Samsonite, who could in turn easily absorb them and possess Fresh, who lacks a resistance to Samsonite’s dream loop, and again, Fresh having his parasites jump onto someone mid-fight is not something he really tends to go for, especially against someone he would view as so much weaker than him, while Samsonite is extremely willing to try and possess Fresh, which would end the fight there and then, giving him a nice edge here.
Conclusion
"Sweet child. If I don’t have a beat, then I can’t dance, and if I can’t dance, then I’m not having any fun, and if I’m not having any fun, then no one is having any fun."
Advantages:
Faster without infinite ends.
Way more likely to go for win-conditions given the power gap.
Regeneration protected him from Fresh’s usual strategy.
Being weaker ironically made it highly unlikely for Fresh to go for his win options in time, especially if Samsonite manipulated him into thinking he wasn’t a threat.
Likely could trap any of Fresh’s parasites in the infinite dream loop, or lock them out of reaching his soul altogether.
Possession’s infinite dream loop bypassed Fresh trying to fight for control and immortality.
Hundreds of years more experienced.
Better showings in skill and strategy.
Could put Fresh to sleep at any time.
Shape-shifting and absorption let him take out any of Fresh’s parasites or Fresh himself at close-range, regardless of his regeneration.
4th-wall awareness countered Fresh’s potential plot hax.
Immersion would let him avoid Fresh for a bit.
Illusions could likely fool or disorient Fresh a fair amount.
Beat Laydown and domain doors could see through Samsonite’s parasites and locate the main Fresh.
Disadvantages:
Ungodly weaker, regardless of end used.
Was vulnerable to soul destruction if Fresh decided to use it.
Would be infinitely slower if infinite ends are bought.
Severely outnumbered against Fresh’s parasites.
Inferior teleportation gave him worse mobility and was vulnerable to getting BFR’d if Fresh used it.
Not beating the allegations… (no seriously his old lore is fucking cursed)
In conclusion, Fresh was an absolute powerhouse that more than threatened Samsonite. He had quite a couple of ways to put Fresh down for good, via destroying his soul, sending him to a timeless void, or in theory absorbing his soul; however, Samsonite had just as many ways to end the fight with putting Fresh to sleep permanently, absorbing his body and incorporating it into his own, or just possessing Fresh, both of which would bypass his conventional defenses by trapping him in an infinite dream loop and absorb his soul, ignoring his regeneration and resets, and this same ability would protect him from any of Fresh’s attempts at possession and soul absorption, sending literally any of his parasites or himself into this same dream loop, given he needs to try and fight for control of his hosts. Ironically, Fresh’s power edge and sheer lack of experience here meant it was way too unlikely he’d go for any of his primary ways of winning outside maybe his possession if he feels like it (which is unlikely to work regardless, and would actually be a loss for Fresh most likely), as he just has never really used the large majority of his powers in actual combat scenarios most of the time, and him being so laid-back, especially against Samsonite, who’d he think as weak, means it just seems incredibly unlikely Fresh would realize the threat Samsonite poses to him before Samsonite lands any of his win-options, given Fresh would only take him seriously when he was actually in threat of dying, which would put down Fresh before he ever got the chance to realize the danger he was in, making it kinda useless here. And again, if you don’t buy Fresh’s infinite ends, he’ll be too slow to avoid Samsonite simply ending his life then and there, especially with Samsonite’s absurd advantage in experience, manipulative nature, extra precautions with illusions and immersion making it easier to fool Fresh, regeneration negating Fresh’s usual approach, and bloodlust against actual threats to him. All in all, Samsonite just has very clear ways to win here basically whenever he wants, while Fresh is, in all honesty, way more likely to screw himself over with his own possession or get hit by one of Samsonite’s finishers before he actually goes for anything that would put Samsonite down for good.
Ultimately, while Fresh laid down, knowing he was beat, Uncle Samsonite jumped on the opportunity to win.
Final Tally
Fresh Sans (2) - Raptor, Doctor Ducksy
Uncle Samsonite (2) - NormallyNormal, Cheese
Literal Dance party (1) - Kars
Yeah okay it’s lame we know, but literally neither had an actual option to put down the other for good, Fresh could always poof away, and Samsonite could always protect his soul, meaning in the end, the real winner…
Was the friends we made along the way
The winner is DANCING!
