The Singularity vs SCP-610 [Kars Fighting Ring]
The Electric Flesh VS The Controlling Flesh
Before We Start…
To begin, the Singularity's media list is pretty straightforward.
We’ll stick to the Vita Carnis series on YouTube and its various hidden videos, as well as any additional material by the creator, Darian Quilloy, such as interviews, social media posts, or promotional videos for supplementary evidence.
On the other hand, SCP-610 will be handled a little differently. While SCP-610 seems quite simple and self-contained, it’s actually been in MANY different SCP tales and articles across the wiki, many of which have differing or even contradicting origins and capabilities for it. While we could try and do a weird composite, not only would that lead to a lot of issues considering the comparatively much smaller scope of Vita Carnis, but it would also open the gate for media where, for instance, SCP-610 grows large enough to consume the entire universe before becoming a reality-warping deity…
Yeah, so this is obviously not gonna fucking work.
For fairness-sake, we’ll instead stick to all media specifically written by the original creator, NekoChris, which would include the original article, the following addendums and exploration logs, and the Mr. Illustrated SCP-610 trilogy, as it is, in fact, written by NekoChris (it’s literally in the description), alongside other Illustrated videos featuring SCP-610 for supplementary material, as he was given permission by NekoChris to use 610 in these. We’ll also use any other miscellaneous social media posts by NekoChris we can get our hands on. This would also exclude basically all of 610’s involvement in the Sarkicism mythos, as, despite how iconic its inclusion is in it, the original creator had no real involvement with any of it and it’s non-canon to the original lore.
Oh, and finally, we used some calcs from Fenic’s SCP-939 vs The Mimic blog cause we were lazy, so credits to that too.
Background
The Singularity
“Symbiosis. We join together. Let us sow seeds and watch what grows.”
What is it that makes us human? Is it our own minds? Our free will? No. It’s the desire to control everything, the environment and ecosystem of our planet merely a stepping stone for us to rise and use to our benefit. But what if the nature of this planet dragged us back into the food chain? That’s what The Singularity is.
First exploding in population back in 1931, the Vita Carnis species flooded our world and quickly made its impact on our ecosystem. Creatures like the Crawl, Trimmings, and Meat Snake benefited the environment and allowed life to flourish, yet the Mimics, Harvesters, and Hosts began preying on humanity, exploiting our vulnerabilities to use us as prey. Then there were the titanic Monoliths, guardians encircling a strange facility in an unnamed island in the Hudson Bay. Despite the number of risks these things brought to humanity, the governments of the world did nothing about it, and instead, it was almost as if they were working with them, sacrificing humanity to them, praising them like a cult. At the center of it all laid the 7 Singularities, the theoretical origin of these beings, and the objects of worship to the cult.
Upon being gathered together, the cult aimed to achieve… something; we don’t know what they planned, but regardless, before they could go through with their plans, CARCAS, a private research organization, stepped in, taking down the cultists and capturing the Singularities. And yet, slowly, the Singularities began corrupting even them, almost like they held some sort of influence that preyed on the minds of men. Researchers within CARCAS have begun to notice, but is it too late? How can they hope to stop a species so ingrained into the very earth we stand upon?
These things will stop at nothing until the very world is in its grasp, and frankly, it may already be, the only thing to do now is accept the new apex of the world.
SCP-610
What is it that makes us human? Is it our own minds? Our free will? No. It's the desire to control everything, our flesh and our bones are mere puppets for our souls. But what if that very ideal was stripped away from us, taken away? Well that's what SCP-610 is.
First found in a small village in Russia, SCP-610 (610 for short), 610 acts and looks like a skin disease which is incredibly infective; in cooperation with the Russian government the SCP foundation vows to protect us from this flesh eating virus in the dark, so we may live in the light. Upon first contact, 610 acts like a mere skin disease, when a person is infected a giant rash will appear on their body, they will begin to scratch at it, removing flesh as their body slowly falls off, flesh hits the ground, eventually they will mutate, their body being covered in the rash, they will then “die”, before coming back to life merely 2 minutes later, they will begin trying to spread the infection as far as they can bring it, after some time they will being fusing to the ground, growing and spreading the mass even further, but that's merely the surface level, Beneath the earth's crust lays a beast, thousands and thousands of meters wide slowly infecting the planet, destroying the natural resources, vowing to destroy everyone and everything.
But how do we beat this beast? The truth is, we never will, but if we do not Secure, Contain, or Protect, there's no point in existing, we must fight back. Keep people away from the infection, send drones in, gain information, gain knowledge, gain information. Burn the beast. Stab the beast. Reason with the beast. And if that fails? Kill it, send expeditions into its maw, learn of the cult within.
We would only stand a chance if we blew up the Earth, but that would only end in our own deaths, truly, we were in check since the beginning.
Experience & Skill
The Singularity
The Carnis, and likely the Singularities as well, have existed since 1931 at least, and given the entire species operates under a hivemind, this has likely given them a LONG time to come to understand humanity and the world around them. Singularities are notably curious, taking great interest in electronic devices like radios and being able to learn how they operate and how to control them in a short timespan. It’s also implied they can directly connect to broadcasts and quickly learn the information they’re outputting, giving them great info-gathering options. The most impressive showing of these things, however, is when they took over multiple important figures in the world’s governments and used them to form their own cult, and even formed an entire food company, NutrireCo, which sold Host spores that would take over people, putting them at an even greater risk. It also commanded the police force to make them avoid interfering with Carnis attacks (pretty standard for them), made the governments actively target and arrest people that released information they didn’t want to be known by the public or even attempted to research the Vita Carnis themselves (pretty standard for them), and influenced notable figures into gathering all 7 of them together for an unknown ritual (pretty standard for them). They’ve got solid showings of strategic thinking too, like when they gathered up Harvesters from around the country to gather around Facility-0 over the span of 2 months to defend it on the day of the ritual. The Singularities could even take control of CARCAS’ upper command, despite the organization being built to study and contain the Carnis, and force them to send employees to die for their own goals.
SCP-610
SCP-610, is one of the most EFFECTIVE killers in the SCP universe; it’s bolded for a reason, given the Keter classification alongside creatures like SCP-682. Yes THAT 682, it's safe to say its a very effective and powerful killer. While we are unsure if it’s directly intelligent, it seems to have some level of sentience, as it attacks anything that isn’t itself instantly; not only that, but its spread is so fast that it is literally 4% of Earth's mass, and it grows exponentially. This is down at the crust of the EARTH, and it was going to corrupt the entire planet in 31 months ALONE. It’s also smart enough to not let the Foundation get any foot-hold into it, destroying any research-gathering equipment or people; it will specifically target these things to make sure nothing gets out about it.
Variants
The Singularity
Crawl
The primary member of the Vita Carnis species, the Crawl, or Scandere Carnis, are meaty-looking vines that generate all other members of the Carnis species. The Crawl possesses tendrils which spread out like roots or fungi, these being soft on the outside but tough on the inside, with a main branch and numerous smaller vines that absorb water, nutrients, and organic matter, and they can always perform photosynthesis to gain energy. Not only can it exist in virtually any environment in the world, but it benefits any ecosystem it exists within, with decaying branches serving as fertilizer for other plants, and it being usable as sustenance for carnivores. Most notably, it can grow at supernatural rates, targeting food or devices releasing radio waves, and grow nodes that eventually split off and become new members of the Carnis species (although which ones it splits into is generally random), such as…
Trimming
These small little guys are known as the Trimming! (Ignavus Carnis). They’re small raccoon-like animals with plump bodies; while this is the default, they can have a number of unique body shapes, limbs, and unique characteristics. They’re made of roughly 77% flesh, and while they’re omnivores and capable of hunting small animals and plants, they tend to be scavengers, instead consuming rotting plants and meat such as fruits, vegetables, roots, seeds, insects, and dead animals. Trimmings are literal babies, screeching, running, and hiding when something threatens them, making them easy prey for any bigger animal to eat, though due to the Crawl constantly making Trimmings, they’re pretty much everywhere, and with their short lifespans, they’re more of a pest than anything else (like rats), especially since they’re loud and dig through trash. ALSO, some people keep Trimmings as pets, as they can be decently domesticated. 🥰
Despite all this, they’re still tougher than you’d expect from such little guys, being able to withstand temperatures up to 45° C and down to -45° C, eat pretty much anything you give them, are incredibly social and communicate with other members of their herd to pass down information, and they’re smart enough to identify specific sound cues and associate them with certain actions or events, such as feeding time.
Goofball
Meat Snake
Meat snakes or, Mutuari Carnis, are worm based beings made of various miscellaneous meats, coated in a small transparent membrane, these little guys have a wide variety of looks, often being 5 meters, they can grow to even larger, with some reaching to sizes larger than 30 meters. Their size, however, is based on how much they’re fed, which in itself relies on if bodies are plentiful in the area, as they mostly eat rotting or dead organisms, being unable to consume living ones. Using their snake-like tongues, they feel around, detecting dead meat particles in the air and tracking it down. To eat a corpse, a Meat Snake will unhinge its jaw and consume it whole, using its stomach to break down tissues and ferment and preserve whatever remains through numerous chemicals, using whatever's left to add to its body (Meat, Bones, skulls etc). As long as a Meat Snake is able to consume flesh, it's able to grow in size. Due to its size and preserving chemicals, Meat Snakes have no predators, and are immune to disease, only being able to die to starvation, burning, or complete destruction of its coating; this level of immortality is consistent, as even splitting them in half isn’t enough to kill them, instead they will undergo mitosis and the now two Meat Snakes will live on as independent beings; they can even force themselves to go through mitosis to escape cramped spaces if they are ever trapped. They can only be found within moderate climates, though despite this, their skin can become super tough if they manage to consume enough, as not only was a giant Meat Snake’s incredibly resistant against being pierced (to the point it took multiple days of cutting just to get a tiny sample of it), but it can withstand extreme temperatures and even radiation, with typical Meat Snakes resisting temperatures of -30 degrees Celsius, and a Meat Snake that had been fed for 3 weeks resisting temperatures ranging from -100 to 5,000 degrees Celsius. Their population in an area depends on the amount of corpses. Due to their efficiency in the disposing of meat, with their chemicals disinfecting material to prevent disease, humans use Meat Snakes in butcher shops, for roadkill disposal, for war body disposal, and in zoos. While they are tame, they will attack in self-defense to protect their meal. Also apparently they fucking reek terribly.
Mimic
The first truly deadly member of the species, the Mimic, or Trucidatum Carnis, are bipedal humanoids with large claws and a deadly maw composed almost entirely of incisors, which they use to chomp down on meat and bite through people’s bones. As you’d expect, these things are deadly hunters, as even newly born Mimics can hunt down and kill tricky prey, progressively targeting bigger and bigger animals as they grow, such as deer; notably, it’s stated that even when just a juvenile, they are “full of hunting instincts,” acting as ambush predators that catch prey off-guard and kill them as efficiently as possible by targeting the throat and neck. After they reach a sufficient size, they generate a cocoon and metamorphosize into their next stage, reaching a height of 7 feet; from here, they exclusively hunt humans, using extremely complex hunting patterns, where they stalk their prey by disguising themselves with clothes, mannequins, and furniture, contorting their bodies into tiny spaces to blend in or conversely expanding their bodies to appear larger (notably, it’s stated that Mimics can contort themselves into anywhere where their skeleton can fit). Once they’ve begun their stalking process, they memorize their target’s routine and strike when they are most vulnerable, usually when they’re asleep; they sneak up on their targets and swiftly kill them before they can even fight back. Even if a target is awake, they can still resort to using various psychological tricks such as vocalizations and other sounds to scare their victim into cornering themselves, before moving in for the kill. As you can imagine, Mimics are incredibly intelligent, which is what allows them to so effectively fool humans. Of course they can mimic human speech, not to the point where they can hold full conversations, but they still hold enough understanding of it to comprehend the meaning of certain words, using them to their advantage to lure people in, and they’re consistently stated to be extremely adaptable, as not only can they change what language they speak based on their current region, but they can shift their hunting strategies drastically if need be, which makes sense as they are VERY cautious and take numerous measures to catch their victim off-guard and ensure a successful hunt, and utilizing just about anything to get an upperhand; hell, they’re so unpredictable with how drastically they can shift their strategies to adapt to human knowledge that people have to constantly make new defense documentaries against Mimics, with all of them always being wrong to some degree due to the constantly shifting methods Mimics hunt, and ultimately, the way each individual Mimic hunts is completely different, making them insanely hard to counteract. We’ve even seen this absurd hunting skill in full display before; a regular Mimic was able to snatch, drag away, and kill this guy, Chris, when he was right next to his sister, Janice, without making a SINGLE sound, all in a matter of seconds, and even after consuming him, which should supposedly drain its stamina and force it to sit idly as it digests, it was persistent enough to chase down Janice for an extended period of time all the way to her house and kill her, showing impressive endurance, and this is consistent with other Mimics being persistent enough to continue attacks on a human target despite being wounded by bats and gunshots.
If you thought all of that was crazy, keep in mind this is only the SECOND stage of a Mimic’s life-cycle. If a Mimic manages to find a consistent supply of food, it will once again metamorphosize, growing hair, skin, and other human features, making them extremely hard to distinguish from a regular human. While they can be identified through uncanny features such as bulbous eyes, flat noses, unnatural smiles, clammy skin, long fingers with no fingernails and notably different walking patterns due to their long, hunched legs, they’re smart enough to wear heavy clothing to hide these features, making them hard to immediately identify until it’s too late. However, if a Mimic obtains an overabundance of food, then it will metamorphosize into…
Elder Mimic
These things are referred to as “God’s strongest warriors,” and for a damn good reason. These monsters are 10 feet tall, can gallop at high-speeds, and eat humans like snapping turtles, “de-gloving” them like a kebab, or in other words, stripping the meat off of their bones in a single chomp with their gums… ew. They achieve this due to their unique biological shifts, with their teeth moving deeper into their throat, allowing them to shred meat as they swallow it, turning their mouths into a veritable garbage disposer that rips apart anything put inside. Moreover, their skin turns black and flexible, becoming super tough and even increasing in strength the more the Elder Mimic consumes, and its flexibility makes it resistant to attempts to pierce it, even allowing them to survive point-blank bullets to the face. Speaking of the face, unlike the rest of their body, it’s covered by pale, pink skin, which might make them stand out; however, the coloration on the rest of their body still allows them to operate with extreme stealth, blending in with the darkness; fitting, given they’re stated to be one of the most efficient hunters on the planet. This level of stealth has been demonstrated to go even further than just merely blending in with the shadows, as one of the most absurd feats in the series involves an Elder Mimic somehow realizing it is being tracked by motion sensors, despite the tracker being in an entirely different room, and thus spending 4 whole hours slowly crawling towards the location of the person tracking it, moving so slowly the motion detectors were unable to pick up its movements. Even without any food, Elder Mimics have shown the ability to stand perfectly still for 7 days just to lure people out of their hiding spots, and even waiting a whole-ass 28 days without any food before deciding to kill a person, still having enough energy to bust down a large door, seemingly withstand 7 gunshots, and kill the person with ease. Beyond its stealth and endurance, Elder Mimics are even smarter than before, now being capable of fully understanding the human language, listening in on its victim’s plans and coming up with countermeasures before they even go for it, and their psychological manipulation has gotten to the point where they’ll actively mock their victims, literally mimicking their crying just to fuck with them and bring them closer to the edge of insanity.
Harvester
These big bulbous masses (Congregentur Carnis) come equipped with tendrils spreading from the base; the bulb is 3 meters tall and 2 meters in diameter, and the tendrils spread across a 150-meter diameter. Unlike other Carnis, when forming out of the Crawl, their node will grow and grow, developing its own branches and, using the Crawl’s energy, expand them just beneath the ground’s surface. They will expand the reach of their tendrils, of which there are two kinds. First ones are bulky, flat, and riddled with spines on both sides like a bear trap, each side pumping out two kinds of venom, one which targets the prey’s nervous system and paralyzes them, and the other which prevents clotting and causes the victim to bleed to death. If a large animal steps near a branch, they will clamp onto them, thrashing violently to maximize damage, and once the prey is immobilized, they’ll be left to slowly bleed to death. There is no cure for Harvester venom, making the odds of a fatality 100%, and while their spines are unable to break through tough boots, the thrashing is still capable of pulling you into their spikes anyways. Beneath the first tendrils, the second kind of tendrils, which are thick and sturdy (reminiscent of Crawl branches) come equipped with organelles capable of absorbing nutrients. Once they sense the prey’s blood, they will quickly absorb it, then wrap around the body and slowly shuffle it, weakening the soil below to slowly drag it underground where the tendrils will continue feeding on it till only scraps remain; the nutrients will be transported to the main bulb. While it’s stated they wait till their victim is dead to begin feeding, we are shown that they are fully capable of dragging down and digesting the flesh of living prey with their smaller tendrils, leaving them as just a skeleton in a fairly short amount of time. A Harvester’s bulb contains all its important organs, venom glands, and is where nutrients are converted into energy, thus damaging it is the best way to kill a Harvester, as rupturing their venom sac will cause it to spread to the rest of their body and kill them. The remains of a Harvester meal will decompose, providing nutrient-rich soil for plants to grow in, luring more animals; however, a Harvester’s tendrils will not attack smaller animals, or certain species of birds. It’s theorized this is due to either it taking too much energy to consume smaller prey for what it gains, or due to the presence of these animals luring in other predators to be consumed by the Harvester. The Harvester only inhabits sparse areas in the northern hemisphere and woodland forests, so areas inhabited by Harvesters tend to have an abundance of lush, ground-dwelling plants, but a lack of wildlife. Usually standing next to large trees or rocks can help avoid a Harvester attack, though Harvesters are capable of moving by themselves to catch new prey or defend certain areas. Sudden movements can activate a Harvester’s spines, so it’s recommended to throw heavy items like backpacks to trigger the spines, then doing slow, wide shuffles while a Harvester is distracted to escape.
Host of Influence
The Host of influence (Imperium carnis is a semi-humanoid being, with a head torso and arms, but its lower half is a mass of fibers which burrow into the ground to keep it in place, though it is able to uproot itself and go somewhere else if it can’t find prey or just doesn’t like its current location. It seems to have no skin, and rather looks like it’s covered in muscular tissues. It has no face, with its head being attached to a crooked neck, which has a slit in the middle to open up for feeding, and its back is covered in pores and spikes which shoot spores into the air (which seem to be connected to some sort of cult), although documenting a Host is extremely difficult due to their rarity and the danger presented from being near one. Hosts will release clouds of spores that will be picked up and carried far distances by the wind; organisms who inhale them will be infected as the spores travel to their brain. No symptoms will appear for the first couple of hours, but soon enough, the victim will begin feeling restless, sluggish, numb, and display a lack of coordination. Overtime, symptoms will worsen as the victim begins to suffer from dizziness, migraines, impaired speech, and trembles. After 6-7 hours, the infected will stop all activities and begin walking towards the source of the spores, the original Host. Once they reach the Host, they will kneel down, expose their vital organs, and the Host will promptly gut and consume them, discarding the leftover remains. If within 36 hours the victim doesn’t reach the Host, or the victim is treated, the effects will wear off, bringing them back to normal. Also important to note that a Host’s spores cannot withstand temperatures above 60 degrees Celsius, though they do appear to have an addictive property that makes people want to constantly consume them, and even going as far as NEEDING it just to enjoy eating and worshipping the Singularity due to their control.
Monolith
The largest of the Carnis, Coelum Carnis are extremely rare, with only 7 existing in the world, all standing around in a massive circle surrounding the area around Facility-0. They are a whopping 120 meters tall, with large, trunk-like legs that embed themselves into the ground and connect to a giant mycelial network just beneath the Earth. It is comprised of hundreds of thousands of fibers reminiscent to that of the Crawl, all tightly woven together to form the structure that is its body, all going up to a hardened, solid mass of flesh that is its head. Instead of having conventional arms, it has dozens of long, rope-like appendages all reaching down to the ground, which they primarily use to swing at and destroy anything that annoys them or they deem a threat, such as large objects within its perimeter. They’re more than just brutes, though, as they possess shockingly dangerous supernatural abilities of their own; their heads can release large, deafening sounds, and if they’re facing technologically-reliant foes, they can weaponize an EMP blast they release from their head capable of knocking out all the vehicles of a military force, and even if damaged by things such as missiles, they’ve been shown quickly regenerating from damage, making them super hard to put down.
SCP-610
Grunts
The main “grunts” of the virus, they come in many shapes or sizes depending on what limbs grow from it, they don't seem to have anything alive under the surface flesh as the virus hijacks the main host, but they seem to have some sort of social structure; they work in a sort of Alpha-Beta social structure, where the “Alpha” will beat on the Beta until it spews a gas of 610 into the air, at which point the “Alpha” will cut itself apart and feed itself to grow other 610 individuals. They are also incredibly stealthy and can come from anywhere from the flesh (or are being directly made from the flesh without outside means); they are undetectable by electrical means, and hell some of them can fly! They can also just be made out of the blue, and stronger variations can grow and appear from the air itself
Immobles
These are the structures of 610, they just kind of sit around and coat walls with their flesh, slowly growing everything around them. These things are more so “higher levels” of the infection; they can become pylon-looking, acting as heat vents warming up areas to spread the virus more effectively, these also act as traps; the heat they spue, of course, contains 610, and with the heat it can spread the infection across a body in 45 seconds, they also are able to open holes in the ground to grab people and drag them inside. Adding to this is
The Pit. Which is a 1,000-meter deep, 4-meter wide hole covered in flesh; its walls are coated with the flesh, and there are many areas around it. It can cause massive ruptures, and it's so big it takes hours to travel, as well as having buildings made from the flesh inside, this thing is just a massive death trap, and an efficient one at that being able to make tendrils to grab and choke things, to creating sharp spikes out of bones to stab people, its able to cause extreme distress in people, even being able to drop the PH level to its absolute lowest.
Hearts
These are massive spheres like flesh blobs, containing hundreds if not thousands of infected, it pulses like a heart, creating huge rings of spores, when they are exposed to damage, either through a small explosive or bullets or physical means, they explode, these are also presumably the reason why the flesh is able to grow on the surface, while they don’t need these to be on the surface, they help with spreading the flesh further
Giants
While we don't know much, or anything about these, other then the fact that they’re huge and can cause massive earthquakes, they seem to act as protection against intruders, a sort of immune system for the main 610. They can even block electrical signals
The Reaper
The first contaminated flesh creature, he is physically always in his 30s, he believes the flesh are his children, and wields a scythe, not only that but he can directly tank point blank gunfire, he’s able to summon massive flesh pillars, and can seemingly psychically move objects (like the bell). They can also seal people in a veil of flesh which cannot be destroyed.
Abilities
The Singularity
Inorganic Physiology
The Singularities are stated to be made of a glass or rock-like material, and it’s unclear if they even breathe or are organic to begin with.
Electromagnetic Manipulation
The Singularities have displayed full control over the entire electromagnetic spectrum, which they utilize in a variety of ways. Their most common application is the generation and manipulation of radio waves, passively emitting pulses of energy which it can use to communicate with people by releasing specific radio frequencies that are picked up and translated by radios into sound; moreover, it can block out other radio frequencies and speak to people through their communications, pick up and detect radio frequencies itself, alter televisions and shift what they display as well as what noise comes out of them, detect the radio frequencies of educational television shows and directly learn of the information they’re transmitting, and even listen in on private conversations, with it being implied they can control sound in the same way.
Beyond this, we’ve seen them show-off numerous other capabilities with their powers, such as: bending light to cause visual distortions, communicating with other Singularities in different rooms (it’s also implied they communicate with other members of the Carnis species at all times), generating signals picked up from across the world (including magnetic fields, energy signals, and other pattern-like signals), and more elaborated on later.
Levitation
Given they’re weird-ass orbs, they can’t move around normally, so instead, they just… float around in the air, though they can be pushed around. Pretty cool.
Technology Manipulation
The Singularities passively interfere with electronics, with them notably being able to generate enough energy to not only glitch out and shut down the camera in its cell, but all 7 together putting the entire facility into a frenzy, overloading its systems. This is consistent with other showings of disabling a military team’s body cameras and generating electrical interference. It can also fine-tune its effect to block out other signals, preventing a soldier from communicating with their superior via radio, and speaking directly to them through the radio. The most notable showing of an individual Singularity was when one hacked into the microphone of its testing chamber, using it to communicate with those outside.
Crawl Creation
When exposed to nearby dead bodies, the Singularity can convert those corpses into more Crawl, fully converting a cow’s corpse into Crawl in only 5 hours. This Crawl produces nodes at a quicker rate, allowing for a greater production of Carnis entities.
Mind Manipulation
The singularity could cause stress in cows, although this doesn’t seem to affect people… Oh wait except it does!
Throughout Vita Carnis, it’s established the Singularities could influence various notable political figures into joining their cause. For instance, they caused war veteran Simon Vanguard to receive visions telling him to follow the Carnis and aid in their growth, and their influence ran so deep, he horribly disfigured himself in his devotion. The Singularities’ control could lead to the birth of large world-wide cults that worshipped them and performed actual war crimes in their name, cause police to ignore Carnis attacks, create large brands who attempted to sell Host of Influence spores to people to get them killed by them, and even take over CARCAS, an organization dedicated to capturing and studying the Singularities, making them ignore safety procedures and send various of their employees to die for knowing too much.
This control stretches beyond humans too, as it can let the Singularities control other members of the Carnis species. The most direct example was when the Singularities caused a massive shift in the Harvester population, leading them all to converge around Hudson Bay over the span of 2 months to act as a defense and prevent CARCAS from reaching the Singularities.

General Carnis Abilities
Carnis Physiology: All of the Carnis (except for the Singularity) share the same general physiology, as they all were formed as nodes on the Crawl that grew before and became their own organism. While this doesn’t mean they should have all the same abilities as each other, general attributes brought about by their general biology should be fine to share.
Hive Mind: All the Carnis operate under a form of hivemind, allowing them to instantly become aware of information any other member of their species gains.
Enhanced Senses/Extrasensory Perception: It’s heavily implied all members of the species can detect and understand electromagnetic waves, with direct instances of both Crawl and Trimmings being attracted to and targeting radio devices. An Elder Mimic was also capable of sensing it was being tracked by a motion detector, and pin-pointing where Dr. Farren was hiding, despite there being no indication of such.
Resistance to Mind Manipulation: Despite the Host releasing spores capable of taking over people’s mind, Hosts can produce these inside their own bodies and release them without repercussions to themselves. Given it’s established that the Carnis do NOT hunt or kill other Carnis, and the fact that Hosts release their spores into areas hoping to catch humans, the same areas Mimics reside within, yet they’re not affected by them, it’s likely the species can resist its effects.
Individual Abilities
This will cover the individual powers of each member of the Carnis species.
Crawl
Physiology: Despite being made of meat, they can absorb nutrients from nearby sources with their branches and even perform photosynthesis like a plant, converting solar energy into chemical energy.
Bio-Fission: They grow nodes of meat on their branches that then grow and turn into an entirely new member of the Carnis species.
Trimming
Physiology: Each Trimming can have a different number of limbs, body shape, or unique characteristics such as spines and a long tail. Some Trimmings can evolve into what appears to be an elder variant, with pure black skin, large webbed spines, and a skull-like head with threatening teeth.
Dance Skills: Canonically the best dancers of the species let’s go!!!!
Meat Snake
Accelerated Development/Immortality: A Meat Snake can live and grow for as long as it can consume, and will not die unless it starves or its entire coating is destroyed, as its coating serves as a brain that preserves and keeps together the body (which is technically just made of dead flesh). Its skin will also become tougher and tougher the more it grows.
Enhanced Senses: A Meat Snake’s tongue can detect particles in the air to locate dead flesh to consume.
Bio-Fission/Regeneration: Once they’ve reached a large enough size, Meat Snakes can undergo mitosis by splitting themselves in half, then going on as two separate entities without suffering from any notable consequences or lasting damage. Some have also used this to escape constraints.
Aura: They smell like ass…
Existence Erasure: 610 bros…?
Mimic
Physiology: Elder Mimic’s skin is pure black, allowing them to blend in with the darkness, and it's very flexible, making it resilient to piercing. Their teeth are also further down their throat so they can shred meat as they swallow it.
Accelerated Development: The more a Mimic consumes, the tougher their skin becomes, making them harder and harder to put down. Once it has consumed enough, it can cover itself in a cocoon to undergo a metamorphosis into a greater stage of its life cycle.
Body Control: They can contort themselves into any space their bones can fit inside, or expand to appear larger.
Mimicry: They can copy sounds they hear and understand them to an extent to lure people in, and an Elder Mimic could mimic a man’s crying to try and break him emotionally. Certain Mimics can also evolve to gain humanoid features, making them hard to differentiate from an actual person.
Stealth Mastery: A Mimic could ambush, kill, and snatch away Chris without his sister, Janice, noticing despite being right next to him, all in a matter of seconds. An Elder Mimic moved so slowly over the span of 4 hours that a motion detector couldn’t pick it up. Even regular Mimics must be extremely stealthy to stalk and hunt down people in public areas, given their entire diet depends on it.
Limited Self-Sustenance: An Elder Mimic could spend a week standing perfectly still, and up to 28 days without any food just to get to Dr. Farren. It’s implied non-Elder Mimics can survive shots to the head for a time, which is consistent with the Living Meat Research report stating that a gun cannot bring down a Mimic in time before it kills you.
Harvester
Physiology: Their main bulb is where they maintain their organs, venom, and where nutrients are converted to energy, and they can spread out their bear-trap roots around an area covering a 150 meter diameter. Even if they’re planted to the ground, they’re capable of moving their roots to transport themselves and catch new victims or defend an area.
Venom: Its spikes release both paralyzing and anticoagulant venoms that target a prey’s nervous system and paralyze them, while the other prevents blood clotting and forces the victim to bleed to death. There is no cure for a Harvester’s venom, making fatality 100% once stung.
Absorption: It turns out Harvesters don’t even wait till you’re dead to begin feeding, as we’re consistently shown they can liquify and reduce a person down to a skeleton in a short timeframe, through the use of their smaller tendrils.
Host of Influence
Physiology: Hosts are burrowed into the ground, but they are capable of uprooting themselves if they want to hunt somewhere else. They possess no skin and are covered in protective plates that guard their vital areas.
Mind Manipulation: They release spores that enter a victim’s brain and take over them, causing dizziness, migraines, impaired speech, and trembles, and after 6-7 hours, the infected will stop everything they were doing, walk towards the Host, and let it kill and consume them. Their spores are implied to be addictive and were possibly converting people into worshipping the Singularity.
Enhanced Senses: According to Darian, the Host’s faceplate detects electromagnetic fields like a shark, allowing it to see.
Monolith
Physiology: They are comprised entirely of Crawl woven tightly together to form a structure, with their legs embedding into the ground, interconnected in a grand mycelial network. It’s also briefly implied they might be capable of leaving their spots when pissed off.
Sound/Technology Manipulation: They can release large bellows of sound and EMP blasts from their head, capable of disabling the vehicles of a military team.
Regeneration: The Monoliths’ tissue can replicate itself and repair at high-speeds, letting it heal from large holes caused by long-range missiles.
Resistances
This will cover the individual resistances of each member of the Carnis species.
Crawl
Extreme Temperatures: They can survive in just about any environment in the world, including extremely cold and extremely hot environments.
Meat Snake
Extreme Temperatures & Radiation: Large enough Meat Snakes will become resistant to extremely hot or cold temperatures, and even high-doses of radiation. One Meat Snake could withstand temperatures down to -100 degrees Celsius, and up to 5,000 degrees Celsius; even basic Meat Snakes can handle temperatures at -30 degrees Celsius.
Disease, Aging & Rotting: The Meat Snake’s body is covered in chemicals it produces to preserve its flesh, making it unable to rot away or die, and making it completely immune to any disease.
Singularity
Radiation: Unaffected by the large amount of radiation it constantly releases.
Mind Manipulation: The Singularities seem unable to control each other, given each has their own personality and thoughts, though they’re all on the same team anyways.
SCP-610
610’s Virus
SCP-610’s main ability is its infection. The infection works as a sort of airborne disease, which can spread in a three meter radius by starting with the lungs/liver and moving outwards; of course, that's not the only way it can spread, as it can also spread through contact with any biological material, but can also spread through the air (although it takes a while through air). The infection itself is quick-working however, only needing a 24 to 2-hour time frame, but in certain circumstances as little as 5 minutes; the virus by this point stops all bodily function, rendering the person dead for 3 minutes before starting up again, then the person will begin growing limbs to help spread the infection further as all biological features mesh into a flesh monster. After this, infected individuals will become incredibly aggressive and attack any “threat” besides its own species. It's also important to note, EVERY SINGLE CELL of the virus has to be destroyed or it simply won't die; a stronger, modified variant is able to be self-sufficient and infect through the air.
Body Mimicry
The virus can take the form of the people it infects without fully morphing their body, while some minor things are off about this, the person still looks relatively the same
Body Morphing/Matter Creation/Regeneration
The infected can use their bodies to morph themselves, giving them tendrils and anything else, this also probably means the 610 virus can just… make matter; this is supported by the virus creating new flesh from nothing in people. Under certain unknown conditions, SCP-610 will root itself into the ground and then cover the surrounding areas, this implies that 610 can just make more mass.
Using said matter creation, 610 is able to heal itself from pretty much any point as long as some of it remains; this is further pushed by the ending of SOURCE POINT, where the Administrator describes how, to fully kill it, they would have to destroy every single part of it.
Technology Manipulation
Okay, so yeah, shocker, 610 has some level of technology manipulation/warping. Firstly, it's important to note that when 610 absorbs technology, it shuts off completely; it can also somewhat control this, by later turning the footage back on. They are consistently shown to be able to intercept facility grade radio communication, and this isn’t just a range issue, the drone itself could fly to the other side of the tunnel completely fine; it’s directly stated to “block the signal” which should be through radio waves. Shown here, we can even see 610 control the drone, aiming it downwards, before ramming into the drone, completely destroying it. Just as a note, the turning OFF and ON of technology is consistent as shown here.
In 610 vs 001, this is also supported, in a much more direct way, with 610 turning on computers, and even shutting down the facility's power.

(When Day Breaks)
As you know, we have been using Mister Illustrated's universe for supplemental information, like visuals; however, we do know he gets permission to use people’s works, this is no different with 610, which means we should be able to use 610 scaling to When Day Breaks to scale to the rest of the verse, so pretty much all scaling comes from the WDB series
6Breaks are able to appear from pretty much anywhere, possibly materializing through the air.
(This also implies that 610 can overpower WDB entities.)
(The reason for this is due to HOW 610 is taking over these monsters; firstly they aren’t strong enough to resist the physical overpowering of the flesh itself, 610 seems to be directly shown to be stronger than the Sun which is reiterated.)
Maico believes that 610 would be the flesh's undoing.
610 is able to stand in the sun without any issues; in 682 vs WDB (in 173 vs WDB) we know the Sun corrupts through the mind, meaning 610 is immune to mind-based attacks (see Verdict).
What comes from 610 being immune and stronger than When Day Breaks:
Weaknesses
The Singularity
The Singularity may be overwhelming, but the Carnis species as a whole has quite a few vulnerabilities that can be exploited.
Trimmings lack any combat capabilities and are found at the bottom of the food chain, making it essentially free food for anything nearby.
Meat Snakes, while tough, are still vulnerable to things such as fire, and can die from starvation or having their membrane totally destroyed (though this appears to be less of an issue for giant Meat Snakes). Meat Snakes also only eat dead corpses, not living beings, and while they can fight back if they feel threatened, they are still fairly passive, which is notable.
Mimics are absolutely the apex hunters of the world, but they usually do need to stand still for a time to digest their meal (though they can still chase and consume someone right after, so it is something they can work around). Mimics are also believed to be hesitant to engage against difficult prey that fights back or has a clear escape route, though we’ve similarly seen some Mimics ignore this too, so it’s not that big a deal, they just prefer targeting easy prey.
Harvesters, while capable of moving, are still very slow, and piercing the bulb in the center will kill it as not only does it contain its organs, but it will also cause its own venom to leak into its vital areas and kill it. Its spikes also struggle to pierce tough enough material such as heavy boots, though its trashing can still overpower people and pull them into the spikes.
Hosts of Influence may have dangerous claws, but they still lack good options for direct fighting, given they only use those to finish off prey that isn’t fighting back, and generally rely on their spores to hunt, which take hours to properly take effect. Their spores also die out at temperatures above 60° C, and its effects will wear off if the victim receives medical assistance or doesn’t reach the Host within 36 hours.
Monoliths are absolute powerhouses, but generally, they’ll only become active if something annoys them or is viewed as a threat within their perimeter, such as big objects. It’s also a lil dubious on if they can even leave their spot and walk around, and if they can, we’ve never properly seen it.
Finally, Singularities are just big floating orbs, and thus, lack a proper way to fight on their own. Even when taking into account their own abilities, they don’t have any direct offensive options and usually rely on letting other members of the Carnis species and mind-controlled humans do their dirty work.
SCP-610
Even though 610 seems almost, impossible to kill, it does have some key weaknesses, like, it's still a virus, meaning it needs farm temperatures to infect people, and in cold climates will simply stop working, adding onto that 610 cannot infect plant life, this includes soil, this is mostly because of the nutrients found within the soil itself it dislikes said nutrients and opts to destroy the ground instead, rooting itself like a worm, Adding onto this, 610 infecteds are.. Relatively stupid they are pretty much unable to do anything on their own and attack rabidly and quickly.
Before the Verdict
Mimics vs Bullets 2: Electric Boogaloo
So, this has been one of the topics with most debate regarding Vita Carnis scaling, and just Vita Carnis as a whole, since the series began. This section will cover in-depth all aspects of the debate and aim to give a solid answer on whether Mimic can tank bullets or not.
For starters, we’ll cover if base Mimics can shake off shots from bullets. The primary issue with trying to piece together a coherent answer is the contradictory information from the series; while the documentary from the National Living Meat Research claims that gun shots would not be enough to take down an attacking Mimic in time due to their resilience, a later Mimic Defense Instructional Tape released by national leaders claims the opposite, and that they can be incapacitated by shots to the head or legs.
You’d think from this that then the more recent tape released by actual government figures would be more reliable from the documentary released by random college students, but there’s one key fact surrounding this that, in fact, supports the opposite. The government figures in question are being controlled by the Singularity, and were actively allowing people to be killed by the Carnis, both via NutrireCo putting Host spores into people’s food and the police actively avoiding to get involved with any sort of Carnis attack, letting people die and covering up incidents. The most damning piece of evidence is the fact the governments literally targeted and arrested the students who worked on the National Living Meat Research documentary due to said documentary revealing information about the Carnis they didn’t want the public to know about. In other words, the group of people who want to get people killed by the Vita Carnis attacked a documentary that revealed info to the public they were trying to keep hidden, then later released a separate tape claiming that they could totally take down Mimics using regular guns… yeah it’s kinda obvious what the insinuation here is, so overall, it’s likely the National Living Meat Documentary is the far more reliable source here.
In fairness though, just because it’s the more reliable source doesn’t inherently make it right. It’s literally been commented that Mimics are so unpredictable that every single documentary since the Mimic Defense Instructional Tape in 1986 has been wrong to some extent (though yes, the National Living Meat Research documentary came before that, so you could argue it may not apply to it), and information in the National Living Meat Research documentary has been contradicted by actual Mimic showings before, such as when it claimed Mimics rarely attack if their victim has a clear escape route, only for another Mimic to do the exact opposite; this doesn’t mean everything they said was wrong, and in fact, it could still be perfectly true given this example could just be an outlier, but it does mean there’s a chance they themselves were wrong about it.
So where does that leave us? What can we use to piece together how tough base Mimics really are? Well, we can turn to direct creator statements to glean some in-sight. Darrian is consistently extremely vague on whether Mimics can actually tank bullets or not across various interviews, which is intentional, according to him, so the viewers will have to guess how tough Mimics are… thanks Darrian. However, in Crowmudgeon’s “I Interviewed Darrian Quilloy (Vita Carnis),” an interesting statement comes through. Darrian explains that while a gun would probably work on a Mimic if you’re prepared, the fact Mimics act as ambush predators that target victims at their most vulnerable means you’d likely never get the chance to pull it off; this actually perfectly explains the confusion and helps give a definitive answer on how Mimics interact with firearms. Recall the exact wording of the National Living Meat Research documentary, it claims Mimics are resilient enough that gunshots would be unable to take one down in-time. It’s not that Mimics can just shave off gunshots like they’re nothing, but rather, much like a bear or other strong animal, they can power through the damage inflicted for long enough to still kill you, even if it still fucks them up, which is consistent with Mimic attacks being directly inspired by bear attacks. So overall, base Mimics being able to withstand gunshots is likely less an attribute of their raw durability, and more a showing of their surprisingly solid endurance and survivability.
As for Elder Mimics, this is thankfully MUCH more clear, though it could use some elaboration. In Terminal Rally, an Elder Mimic survives a point-blank gunshot to the face. The main counterargument brought up for this is the Elder Mimic loudly screaming in pain right after, which implies they’re not as tough as they’re made out. While this is true, there is also some notable context for it; firstly, the Elder Mimic was absolutely caught off-guard by it, given it had no way of knowing Dr. Farren had a gun on him at the time, and secondly, it’s likely the Elder Mimic’s face is less protected than the rest of its body given the entirely different coloration, unlike the pure-black skin which is portrayed as much tougher. Even with these factors in mind, also note that there was 0 visible blood or wound on the Elder Mimic, even when we saw it later, and the Elder Mimic later proceeded to simply bust its way into Farren’s hiding room, and despite us hearing multiple gunshots fired, it didn’t even react and killed Farren with little issue. You can argue he missed, but he was very much in a cramped space, and given not only was he at the farthest wall from the door, but the Elder Mimic had only just torn down the door when the firing started, it’s highly unlikely it would have been able to intercept him before he fired, meaning unless the Elder Mimic was fast enough to dodge the bullets (which there’s no indication of such yet), it’s highly likely it got hit and just shook it off. It’s also not like Farren was too mentally unwell to aim, given while he was worn down mentally, this is more in the sense that he’d accepted his death, as he was still perfectly capable of rational thinking at this time such as piecing together the fact he’d been sent to die by CARCAS and attempting to hide his recordings from them so they can’t use his research, meaning he should be capable of properly aiming and shooting it. Finally, if the Elder Mimic genuinely believed Farren’s gun could lethally wound it, it wouldn’t have boldly busted down the door (given it knew he had a gun by this point) and would have more likely just waited for him to starve; Mimics are noted to be incredibly cautious and take various precautions to make sure their hunts go well, and the Elder Mimic already tried to bust down the door with brute strength and got shot, so if it genuinely was worried that Farren’s gun was a legit danger to it, it would’ve been MUCH more cautious than just that, and combined with the aftermath we hear and all previous factors mentioned earlier, it’s genuinely much more likely that while bullets hurt the Elder Mimics, they don’t really deal much serious damage and they can just shake it off.
A CANONICITY DEBATE IN AN SCP BLOG?? NO WAY??
So… this is a shocker to.. Absolutely nobody, but as you know we are using Illustrated’s work for supplementary material (IE images for feats), what this mostly derives from is using the SCP-001 (When Day Breaks) VS SCP-610 video he uploaded. While we have stuck to only using the stuff Neko-Chris (NC from now on) directly wrote for the most part, we are moreso focusing on the fact that 001 vs 610 was not written by NC, but instead approved by NC… SO, is it canon or not?
…
…
…
This is quite literally, just a preference thing, you can argue against it or for it, but most of the time it almost ALWAYS ends in a “Well erm, while he read it that doesn’t mean it’s canon!!” or “Well uhm, he read it and approved of it so it’s canon!!!” You can read the two different stances people on this blog took on this in the Verdict…

610 Infection vs Carnis Physiology
(Art by LucyJpeg)
To start this off, let’s cover a crucial part of the debate, couldn’t 610 just infect all of the Vita Carnis off the bat? Well, surprisingly, it’s unlikely. SCP-610 is incapable of infecting plant life or soil due to the natural nutrients within them; this is important because Crawl, despite its fleshy nature, operates exactly like a plant. They gain their nutrients from nearby soil, undergo photosynthesis, and benefit and grow from decaying organic matter, meaning 610 would absolutely refuse to infect the Crawl and instead aim to destroy it like everything else. This is also notable because all members of the Carnis line simply popped out of the Crawl; specifically, they grew from the Crawl as nodes on it, that after long enough growing through the Crawl’s nutrients, split off into their own organism. This would give them the same general physiological traits, and thus it’s unlikely 610 would attempt to infect any of the Carnis either simply due to their inherent connection to natural soil and plant-life. The one entity which you can argue isn’t born from the Crawl is the Singularity, but given the Singularities aren’t even organic to begin with, instead being comprised of a glass-like material, 610 wouldn’t be able to infect them either, meaning ironically, 610’s usual trick will be rendered moot, and thus it will instead aim to destroy all the Vita Carnis (Really living up to the name “The Flesh that Hates”).
So, with the infection out of the way, let’s cover who has the better combat options in:
Offensive Troops
(Art by Freddy999M)
Time to cover their primary troops here they can weaponize for combat.
Off the bat, Mimics are WAY more unpredictable and cunning than any of the 610 entities, meaning it’s gonna be absurdly hard for 610 to properly predict their movements and attacks. The Elder Mimics’ skin also gives them better protection than the average 610 specimen. Besides them, the Harvesters have dangerous spikes that can inject dangerous venom and the Hosts can release mind-controlling spores into the air, which should give them better offensive options… in theory; however, the 610 just have really solid counters to these.
610-infected individuals have no real internal organs, being just massive blobs of flesh, so there’s no blood circulation or proper respiratory system for the Harvesters’ venom or the Hosts’ spores to infect, making those fairly useless, and when taking into account their stats, while Mimics are notably faster than the 610 (about average human level vs 11 m/s, or peak human), even the Elder Mimics cap at 1.03 MegaJoules, compared to the Grunts reaching 304.5 MegaJoules, giving them an absurd physical edge here. The Reaper is also capable of shredding through the Carnis’ ranks with its control over those flesh pillars and scythe, overall just giving 610 MUCH stronger offensive tools here. Even ignoring the massive stat-gap, the Reaper being able to create thin skin-like flesh wraps which cannot be broken from (or broken from easily) shuts down the regenerative properties of the Meat Snakes, the Reaper’s telekinesis pushes this forward, allowing it to either play keep away, or fling the Carnis, and the Flying 610 Grunts negate anything Harvesters can do, and allow for quick and easy fodder.
Overall, the Singularity’s forces may seem better on paper, but the 610 creatures held better counters, physicality, and firepower to wipe them out in a direct confrontation.
Battlefield Control
(Art by Freddy999M)
A direct fight isn’t all though, and in this section, the Singularity takes an edge.
For starters, 610 can spread at absurd rates via air and ground. So long as the virus is somewhere, it can generate more flesh to spread; however, as previously mentioned, it can’t spread across plant-life and natural soil. Usually it can solve this by destroying the nutrients of an area, but the Crawl actually massively benefits any environment it is in, allowing for the creation of new nutrients and allowing plant-life to flourish, which means 610’s attempts to destroy the nutrients of an area would be counteracted, and on the other hand, it’s unlikely the Crawl would be able to grow on top of the constantly shifting and attacking mass of 610-covered land, meaning that neither of their growth would really be able to overtake the other here, cancelling out.
The much more interesting discussion comes with their intelligence. 610 isn’t stupid, and it could manipulate the Foundation to prevent information on it from being leaked out, actively protecting itself by letting the Foundation see what it wanted them to see and preventing them from seeing what it doesn’t. However, not only does the Singularity have matching showings of deception, literally controlling government figures and the police force into covering up information on the Carnis to the worldwide public, but it can actually mobilize specific plans months in advance, such as getting their cult to bring together all 7 Singularities to a specific spot and causing a massive shift in the Harvester population over the span of months all to ensure protection in the one specific day they attempted to perform their ritual, and even looking at their smaller troops, while the Reaper can efficiently emotionally manipulate Foundation-trained agents, Elder Mimics can carry out complex plans such as identifying the fact it is being tracked by a motion sensor despite no indication of that being the case and activating specific sensors to fool those tracking it into thinking it’d left the building, before locating their hiding spot, emotionally breaking them down over the span of a month, and thwarting any plan they come up with to escape. The Reaper does have an incredibly similar feat with tricking Foundation forces into believing that it didn’t know where they were, shutting off their escape routes, and then killing them quickly, but the difference is that the Reaper is a single entity, while there are hundreds, if not thousands of Mimics out there, and each can act or adapt differently from one another, which has consistently made it nearly impossible for humanity to properly catalogue and plan against the Mimics, and this is where the Singularity’s biggest edge in this category presents itself.
Both operate within a hive mind system, but while 610 is more of a single entity controlling a large number of entities, each member of the Carnis species can think individually and for themselves, while also learning every piece of information any single other Carnis member learns. This gives them an absurd edge in an army fight such as this one, since while the 610 will have to be busy constantly planning against the offensive troops, trying to fight against the Crawl’s growth, and figuring out what the Singularity is and locate it, the Carnis can act independently of one another and target vital points for 610, such as The Pit, all while constantly learning more and more about 610 as more are mass-produced. Hell, if even something like a single Trimming manages to get in (which recall they are literally mass-produced), the entire Carnis will now learn of the extent of 610 and how it generally operates, and yeah, not each member of the Carnis is necessarily intelligent enough to properly utilize this information, but with 7 Singularities all being able to make strategies or command the Carnis independently of one another if they so desire, they’re gonna have a much easier time planning and controlling 610’s expansion than otherwise.
In general, while their rate of growth cancels each other out, the Singularities have notably superior showings in strategic capabilities, and their much wider number of fully intelligent minds within their hive mind capable of making decisions for themselves, rather than just being run by a single entity, means they’re gonna be juggling a lot less than 610 here, giving them an edge.
Trump Cards
(Art by Freddy999M)
The final topic here comes down to their trump cards, or notable powers that could win them the game outright, even when accounting for other disadvantages.
The Singularity comes out swinging out of the gate with the Monoliths, which do stat-stomp any of the other 610 specimens with their sheer size, racking up to 5.75 Tons of TNT. However, 610’s Giants had them beat, with their own feats of stuff like making gigantic sinkholes reaching 55.4 Tons of TNT on their own, and their absurd earthquake feats going all the way up to 476.88 Kilotons of TNT, stomping even the Singularity’s own earthquake feat capping at 16.04 Tons of TNT. Ignoring the Giants, 610’s Hearts also had the option of just exploding, which yielded 18.44 Tons of TNT, enough to damage the Singularity and deal heavy damage to the Monoliths. While the Monoliths did hold very powerful regeneration, which could let them heal from a lot of blows such as the Heart explosions, this can only take them so long against such a massive gap, and not only do the Giants and other 610 specimens have comparable, if not superior regeneration showings, but their other abilities like the massive EMP would be ineffective against the organic 610 horde. There’s also the issue that it’s unclear if the Monoliths could even move at all, heavily limiting their utility; sure, the Singularities can hide within the Monolith’s perimeter, which would keep them safe for a while, but once the Giants begin pulling up, it’s unlikely they could defend against them for long, especially with them being able to move up to 1,000 m/s, more than fast enough to blitz them with little issue.
So, if 610 has significantly more powerful heavy-hitters, it all comes down to the Singularity’s innate capabilities; primarily, their electromagnetic manipulation. Both 610 and Singularity can block or interrupt radio signals at will, and notably, while the Singularities’ signals can be sent out to be clearly felt across the world, 610 has negated similar levels of EM waves, which could likely mean it could negate one Singularity’s powers. Key word being one. We’ve seen the Singularities can work together to release even more powerful signals than before, which can overpower large electrical systems from an entire facility. While 610 could effectively negate the signals to a much larger facility, these signals were also notably nowhere near as powerful (given they were only really for communication), while the 7 Singularities were actively causing the facility’s systems to collapse from the level of energy. So, given a single Singularity can output a level of signals comparable to what 610 has negated, and the 7 Singularities have better showings than what 610 has directly intercepted, it makes sense that while 610 could absolutely shut down a single Singularity’s powers, it’s a lil dubious on if it could handle all 7, and this is absolutely where the deciding point kicks in.
The Singularity’s mind control could operate on a continent-wide scale, literally affecting the entire Harvester population in the US and influencing them to its side. What’s also notable is that, as previously mentioned, 610 is all controlled by a single mind, which means that if the Singularity can affect it, then the entire virus would be affected. Even when taking account the stat-difference and the potential blitz, 610’s Giants are the only entity that can actually reach this degree of speed, and given how massive the Singularity’s AOE is, alongside the fact that it’s not like they’d be the first thing to be pulled out, the final verdict truly comes down to whether 610 can properly resist the Singularity’s control, and this is where opinions for the verdict differ.
Technically, 610 has showings of resisting comparable levels of mind manipulation through its run-ins with SCP-001, When Day Breaks, in Mr. Illustrated’s 001 series, which did technically receive the approval of Neko-Chris, as we’ve said before; however, as far as we're aware, Neko-Chris did NOT directly write the video featuring 610, and thus basing such a crucial resistance that can decide the debate around something the author didn't technically write can come off as odd to some people. Because of this, when ultimately looking at their biggest trump cards, who has the edge comes down entirely to your personal taste on how lenient you believe you should be with supplementary material for a character. Therefore, this section goes undecided for now.
The Singularity
“WE FEEL. SUFFER. THRIVE. PURPOSE. WE ARE.”
Advantages:
Monoliths are physically far above 610’s basic troops…
Unlikely to be infected by 610’s virus.
Better showings of tactics and strategy.
All 7 Singularities could likely overpower 610’s EM wave negation…
Hivemind contains multiple highly-intelligent minds capable of acting independently.
If effective, mind manipulation could affect 610 from anywhere.
Ties:
Mass production of their species.
Growth cancels the other’s out.
Debatable:
Might be able to win through mind control.
Disadvantages:
…but notably inferior to the Giants.
Most troops got countered and were much weaker than 610’s troops.
Most abilities would not affect 610.
…though a single Singularity would be negated by it.
Hearts exploding would wipe out large chunks of its army.
Unable to destroy 610 conventionally.
SCP-610
“If it's intelligent it can be reasoned with, if it cannot be reasoned with it can be killed.”
Advantages:
Could counter and had stronger troops than most of the Carnis species.
Reaper’s telekinesis, flesh sealing, and AOE via flesh pillars offered a notable edge.
Could negate a single Singularity’s EM waves…
More destructive and powerful trump cards.
Could regenerate from nearly anything the Singularity threw at it.
Comparable showings of manipulation & deception…
Neko-Chris has a family. Good for him!
Ties:
Mass production of their species.
Growth cancels the other’s out.
Debatable:
Might be able to resist mind control.
Disadvantages:
Unlikely it’d want/could to infect the Carnis.
Inferior strategic showings.
…though it’s unlikely this would work against all 7.
Less diversity in species variants and capabilities.
If vulnerable, mind manipulation could affect it from anywhere.
…but being only a single mind meant it would struggle to effectively plan against all the Carnis.
In the end, both have numerous advantages over the other, with the Singularity’s better strategy, superior hivemind, and ability to overpower 610’s EM negation when working together clashing against 610’s far superior firepower, immortality, and specific counters to the Singularity’s usual tricks. Thus, this truly comes down to the final point: Would you buy SCP-610 resisting the Singularity’s mind manipulation? If you do buy it, then the Singularity would be left with no ways to take the win, and with 610’s Giants having such an oppressive stat-edge here, they could very easily reach the Singularities and crush them to bits. If you don’t buy it, then nothing is stopping the Singularities from simply taking over 610’s mind and using the virus for themselves; sure, 610’s Giants are much stronger and faster, but not only would 610 not pull those out from the start at all, but given the absurd AOE of its effects, the Singularity’s superior strategic showings, and the sheer amount of fodder they could throw at 610 throughout the fight to learn and get a gauge on the stat-difference, as well as the fact that ONLY 610’s Giants would be able to get past the Monoliths to begin with… and they’re also the only one of 610’s variants that could effectively blitz the Singularities at close-range, the Singularities would have a very easy time simply influencing and taking over 610’s mind. So, as mentioned earlier, there are two viewpoints on thiiISISSs-
SCP-610 should not be given a resistance to the Singularity’s mind manipulation.
As previously mentioned, 610 resisting mind manipulation comes from 610’s encounter with When Day Breaks, a video which, despite having permission to use 610, was not written by Neko-Chris. While this means it should be fine to use as supplementary material, given it is, by definition, “official” SCP-610 media, not much really proves it is directly canon. It doesn’t directly mention or reference events from the SCP-610 storylines, more so just using the general idea of 610, which while fine as it doesn’t directly contradict much, does mean it’s a little hard to fully justify using it for anything beyond just supplementary evidence, which brings up the issue of the mind control resistance. Sure, 610 could take over the minds taken over by the Sun, but granting SCP-610 an entirely new, and extremely crucial, resistance that never showed up or was even mentioned in the original source material, NOR in Mr. Illustrated’s own SCP-610 videos, is kinda off for something that is only supposed to be, again, supplementary evidence. In general, the idea of basing 610’s entire winning argument around a showing that only happens in something that is dubiously canon and only really being included to support more concrete showings, with nothing else really backing up this idea, can come off as strange or just kind of too generous to some, and thus, some believe that it just shouldn’t be granted to 610 at all (the ability, not the video as a whole), and without such, the Singularity would get the final edge that would let it take the win here, allowing the meat live on once more.
SCP-610 should be given a resistance to the Singularity’s mind manipulation.
I think it’s important to note that Illustrated himself does not include SCPs if he cannot get into contact with the original creator; this is true for ALL of his videos, especially when it comes to 001 videos. When we take into account that Illustrated has directly talked to Neko-Chris, and that the video is APPROVED by Neko-Chris, and therefore would’ve had to read it, it makes sense to its contents for it. And again, this was approved by him. While it’s weird to say that 610 should resist it, it’s outright stated to resist it, it’s outright shown to resist it, and the line “The Sun's eyes have been opened” pushes this even further. The whole plotline was 610 manipulating the Sun for itself; looking at the timeline Illustrated has put up before, regardless whether you like it or not, it is CANON, to not only 001, but also 610 itself, considering other feats within the 001 vs 610 video are simply reinforcing this idea it’s weird to exclude one feat because it’s done once. This would be like saying “Beerus has only ever shown to use UI once in the manga, which is a source outside of the anime, therefore he shouldn’t have it,” we have seen 610 completely resist the 001 effects, and therefore it should be used, regardless of what you think. Therefore, without a final way for the Singularity to corrupt the flesh, it hates on to see another day.

ReplyDeleteSo, after reading this over, I gotta admit I prefer the arguments for including the feat from the video rather than excluding it, so I kinda lean 610 winning here.
